"The only agreements that we (her siblings) were aware of was for my mother to give Bernadette £50 per week 'keep' and to ensure that Bernadette was not to be out of pocket. " £50 a week, what an insult! I wonder what care the other siblings were providing.

More on Clr Hadwin's revelations about the SEND system. Plenty of support staff, SalTs, OTs, ASD specialists and reasonable adjustments all available without the need for an EHCP. "social media" is to blame. youtube.com/live/LmThxLn34hc…

So according to commentators, disabled people shouldn’t get PIP, Motorbility and now Access to Work? But then they are castigated for not getting or staying in paid employment ? They are damned either way
Access to Work needs to be properly confronted too. There is never any cost-benefit analysis undertaken with any of this. Should the government really be spending tens of thousands of pounds ‘enabling someone to work’ their a £30k job? What is the ultimate pay-off supposed to be?

Maybe, just maybe the shortened breaks and over emphasis on academic exams might be leaving kids much less able to tolerate the school day.
“I’ve been teaching 25 years and low-level behaviour is so much worse than before - part of the problem is, if you address that behaviour, you get a reaction from the parent we never used to get” Is gentle parenting to blame? @jasminenorden finds out. tes.com/magazine/analysis/ge…

Shouldn't a schools number one priority be building relationships? The rest comes much more easily after....
Honestly, if your school's number one priority is not building a school culture where these instances of disruption to lessons below are eliminated to zero, it NEEDS to be.

'Disabled people's rights are under threat'. says actor Ruth Madeley. Madeley stars in Being Heumann, a new film telling the story of disability rights activist Judy Heumann, who led more than 100 young people in a landmark protest at San Francisco’s Federal Building, demanding equal rights for disabled people.

Why are people who have reported on the crisis in SEND shocked by the number of young people not in education work or training??? Do journalists not join the dots? Zero mental health therapies so where do people think the help was coming from?

Oh apparently we are allowed to contact Cllrs, it's just the cc-ing causes extra admin work. Yet the extra admin we have to do emailing, then escalating to managers and then complaining, just to get a reply! is irrelevant. Obviously our time isn't as important as theirs.
Maybe if Cllr Gould did something about the mess of our send services and believed parents who tell him things aren't working, we wouldn't need to cc him in the emails that evidence we've being ignored for weeks....
