My accounts were blocked in Türkiye after I published reporting and analysis on matters of public interest. Yet the issues we raised subsequently became the subject of investigations, legal proceedings and arrests. Many of the allegations we brought to public attention were substantiated.
My original account, which I have built since 2009, was withheld in Türkiye. The three accounts I subsequently opened were also withheld there. In total, four of my accounts have faced this restriction.
Three of those accounts are:
• My original account: @farukbkc44 — later renamed @TheSignalPulse.
• Accounts opened subsequently: @farukanaliz and @FarukAnalysisTR.
As a Canadian citizen, I ask: Why is state power being used to silence someone sharing public-interest reporting and analysis? Are these restrictions becoming a tool to shield powerful interests from scrutiny?
If a specific post allegedly violates the rules, identify it, explain the grounds and provide an opportunity to appeal or address the issue. How can objections to individual posts justify withholding an entire account built over many years?
Mr. Musk, my history on this platform predates your ownership. Its value was built by the people who have spent years contributing to it.
X should not become the plaything of a privileged group or a propaganda machine. Freedom of expression must also protect reporting and criticism that make powerful people uncomfortable.
My request is clear: Transparently review the restrictions on my accounts, disclose their grounds and provide an effective way to challenge them.
I also call on Canadian press-freedom organizations and Global Affairs Canada to examine this case and raise concerns about the restrictions on my accounts in Türkiye. As a Canadian citizen publishing public-interest reporting and analysis, I ask for your attention and support in defending freedom of expression and access to information.

He goes on to lead Detroit’s public health department.
