By 2000 we produced 4 WINFemme Film Festivals. Inspired by a Maidenform campaign -when women were called: a CHICK, DOLL, HOT TOMATO or FOX. Pointedly Not Called a Women’s Festival-saying that marginalizes it- And because our films are made by women & men. #equality #TheWINAwards
Jennifer Lawrence has joined Instagram, earning nearly 1 million followers in less than 24 hours. But she's issuing a warning to toxic fans:
“So yeah, I am giving it a shot and if anyone says anything negative I will quit immediately, no questions asked. If anyone thinks something mean, I will know and I will quit,” Lawrence said in her first video post.
Lawrence doubled down on her message in a post on her Instagram story that reads: “Please be mindful that any mean or aggressive comments can negatively affect the baby. It’s me. I’m the baby.”

Love from @EmmaWatson to her friend #GloriaSteinem
Emma Watson and Gloria Steinem met for the first time almost ten years ago, in London. Watson was ostensibly there to discuss Steinem’s memoir “My Life on the Road.” Instead, the two spoke about erotica, the work of the researcher Valerie Hudson, the problem of gender inequality. Their friendship lasted until Steinem’s death, last Wednesday.
On July 15th, Watson visited Steinem at her brownstone. The women spoke, in Steinem’s historical home, about patriarchy, politics, and marriage. “Eventually, Gloria has to go upstairs for another appointment,” Watson writes. “As I press my body to hers, trying to wrap my arms around her carefully, I know, with a strange certainty, that this will be the last time I see her.” Emma Watson remembers her friend Gloria Steinem: newyorker.com/culture/essay/…

“My role as an older person is to remind people how far we have come. Among the many things I have learned is that there is no one right way to achieve peace, equality, or justice,” Gloria Steinem wrote.

Gloria Steinem, a trailblazing figure in the women's liberation movement who died on Sept. 2, 2026 at age 92, was a 30-something columnist for New York Magazine when she helped found a publication aimed at pushing feminism into the mainstream. In this "Sunday Morning" report that originally aired Sept. 17, 2023, Steinem talked with Rita Braver about the origin of Ms. Magazine.
Braver also talked with Ms. executive editor Katherine Spillar, who compiled the anthology, "50 Years of Ms.: The Best of the Pathfinding Magazine That Ignited a Revolution." cbsn.ws/4xFuSt7
