"I really thought that it was going to be trying to teach writing in my math class. I'm actually using those strategies to teach math in a more intentional way."
Amy Wenning, a fourth-grade teacher at St. Marys City Schools, recently shared with her Board of Education how she is using the Hochman Method in math.
In fourth grade, students take on multi-step story problems for the first time, and Amy calls them "the most difficult thing to learn in fourth grade." Writing gives her students a way to slow down, ask what the data can tell them, and think carefully about their answers before they start calculating.
This is what we mean when we say writing is a tool for thinking in every subject. Thank you to Amy and the whole SMCS team for showing what that looks like in practice.

That’s a wrap on EdTech Week 2026!
AI is everywhere in education, but much of it still feels disconnected from the classroom. At “Rewriting the Future of Literacy with Human-Centered Intelligence,” our Co-CEOs Dr. Dina Zoleo and Dr. Toni-Ann Vroom and Brandon Dickens of NIIT started from a different place: pedagogy first, technology in service of it.
They shared real classroom examples, how teachers use Judy to bring writing instruction into every subject, and what we’re learning about impact along the way.
We also co-hosted an evening with our friends at EdSolutions. It was a chance to catch up with longtime partners, meet many new ones, and keep the conversation going about what coherence in education really requires.
Thank you to everyone who joined us, to NIIT, EdSolutions, and Wiley for their partnership, and to the EdTech Week team. We hope this is the first of many.

We loved visiting Beech Avenue Elementary School in Fontana, California, for our second site visit with their team.
Now in their fourth year of implementation, Beech Avenue has trained nearly its entire staff in The Hochman Method and is continuing to strengthen writing instruction across grades TK–6. It was exciting to see that commitment in action and to watch students engage with explicit, schoolwide writing instruction.
Thank you to Principal Michele Mower, Assistant Principal Theresa Gomez, and K–5 Coach Katie Knecht for welcoming us into your school community.

A behind-the-scenes look at Hochman Studios!
We’re bringing The Hochman Method to life as we film our K–2 strategies in a classroom setting, showing educators what explicit writing instruction looks like in action.
Modeling is a powerful teaching tool at every age. By showing students how to approach a task, teachers can build confidence, strengthen understanding, and lay the foundation for independent writing.
We can’t wait to share what we’ve been working on!

The Writing Revolution's Co-CEOs, Dina Zoleo and Toni-Ann Vroom, will be speaking at EdTech Week.
AI is everywhere in education, but much of it still feels untethered from classrooms. This session starts from a different place. We will share implementation insights, real classroom examples, and what we are learning about impact as Judy is used by teachers to support writing instruction across subjects and grade levels. The goal is not to showcase more AI, but to explore what it looks like to do AI better, in ways that are grounded in proven practice and responsive to the realities of teaching.

This work is coordinated through the University of Cincinnati Systems Development & Improvement Center in collaboration with the Ohio Department of Education and Workforce, with support from Ohio's State Personnel Development Grant (SPDG). Thank you to @Ohio Deans Compact for sharing it, and congratulations to the St. Marys educators leading the way!

Writing shouldn’t feel overwhelming.
For this Grades 3–5 teacher at St. Marys West Intermediate School, giving students explicit strategies and tools changed more than their writing. It changed how they felt about writing.
Clear instructions can help students approach the page with greater confidence and independence.

Can we help to celebrate your writing success stories?
The best evidence of the Hochman Method at work happens in real classrooms every day. A student finally understanding how to craft a strong sentence. A group finding confidence in their writing. Those moments matter, and we would love to celebrate them.
Submit your photos and classroom stories to MyTWR Moments and you could be featured on our social media. Every featured submission gets a TWR swag bag as a thank you gift.

Writing is one of our most powerful tools for supporting students' thinking, yet it's often missing from structured literacy programs.
At the Festival of Education, TWR Director of Impact Alexandria Chalonec presented "The Writing Revolution: A Missing Piece in Structured Literacy," showing how the Hochman Method embeds writing instruction into any content area to strengthen students' writing, knowledge, oral language, and analytical thinking.
Thank you to everyone who joined the session and brought such great questions, and to the Festival of Education team for having us!

A great two days seeing TWR in action across Yavapai County, Arizona!
Our School Partnerships team, Serena White, Director of School Partnerships; April Laing, Manager of School Partnerships; and Cassidy Burns, Senior Faculty, visited six schools to see how educators are bringing TWR strategies into their classrooms.
Across the visit, our team observed 14 teachers in grades 6–9 using TWR strategies in ELA and social studies. Just a few months into their first year of implementation, it was exciting to see the work taking shape and to share feedback and recommendations for what comes next.
Thank you to Dr. Daniel Bright School, Cottonwood Community School, Oak Creek School, Mountain View Preparatory, Beaver Creek School, and Mingus Union High School for welcoming us into your classrooms.

What does it take to generate evidence that is both rigorous and useful to the educators who need it?
That was the question at the heart of our presentation at #SREE this year. @AlexandriaChal2 of The Writing Revolution joined our research partners and Joy Zacharia of @NORCNews to present "From Rigor to Relevance: Evaluating an Innovative Writing Program for Credible, Actionable Evidence."
We were proud to share the stage in a facilitated session alongside two other teams advancing writing research, a reminder of how much momentum there is behind understanding what works in writing instruction.
Thank you to the Society for Research on Educational Effectiveness for the opportunity, and to everyone who joined the conversation. Strong evidence matters most when it can guide real decisions in real classrooms, and we're committed to building it.
