Today, we celebrate the cultures, languages, traditions and stories that make South Africa who we are.
Our heritage reminds us of where we come from, but it also shapes the future we are building together.
At the NECT, we recognise the important role that education plays in bringing people together, creating opportunity and building a stronger South Africa for generations to come.
As we celebrate Heritage Day, may we continue to embrace what makes us different, while recognising all that connects us.
Happy Heritage Day, South Africa! 🇿🇦

DIGITAL SKILLS FOR THE FUTURE SUMMIT | RECAP
From 21–23 September 2026, the Department of Basic Education (DBE), in collaboration with National Education Collaboration Trust (NECT), convened the Digital Skills for the Future Summit at Holiday Inn Johannesburg Airport.
The Summit reinforced a critical message: South Africa’s digital future depends not only on access to technology, but on ensuring that every learner, regardless of quintile or province, develops the skills, confidence and
adaptability needed to participate meaningfully in the Fourth Industrial Revolution (4IR) economy and society.
Together, we are laying the curriculum-grounded foundation for a digitally capable generation.
