REMINDER: Stop giving your pearls to people who lack the discernment to recognise their value and the character to preserve them.
Your pearls are not merely financial. They are your wisdom, knowledge, ideas, intellectual contributions, emotional availability, time, energy, compassion, and the invaluable perspectives you have acquired through lived experience.
These are not inexhaustible resources, nor is anyone inherently entitled to them.
The tragedy of misplaced generosity is not merely that your pearls are wasted, but that the recipient may eventually mistake your willingness to give for their right to receive.
What is repeatedly given without appreciation can become normalised, until generosity is no longer recognised as a gift but treated as an obligation.
Generosity is a virtue, but discernment is the wisdom that protects it. Your capacity to give does not create another person’s entitlement to receive.
