Embarrassment is keeping us from talking about our health, and that silence is hurting us more than we think. So we created Dying of Embarrassment, a podcast hosted by our CEO and co-founder, @ScottHickle, tackling topics such as gut health, period poops, erectile dysfunction, grief and so much more. Episode 1 with board-certified gastroenterologist Dr. Harish Gagneja is live now, with new episodes on Oct 26, Oct 27, and every Thursday after that. 🎙️ Listen to Episode 1 on YouTube, Spotify, and Apple Podcasts. Links in the comments. #DyingOfEmbarrassment #GutHealth #HealthPodcast #Throne

We built a podcast studio over the summer and have quietly been recording with leading health experts We originally thought we’d name the show “Not Another Shitty Health Podcast” — because it’s not. It’s a totally fresh premise and addition to the discourse. First episode drops tomorrow. I can’t wait to share… Dying of Embarrassment 💀💀💀 H/t @bgrynol and @Vince_Profeta for moving mountains to get this thing produced

Diagnosed with Crohn’s disease at eight years old. Growing up, Carson and his family were left guessing about what was affecting his gut health. Now, Throne automatically tracks how often he goes, his stool consistency and his hydration, comparing each visit to his personal normal. For people like Carson, living with IBS or IBD, that means walking into appointments with weeks of tracked bowel movements and hydration trends. Six years old, Vincent was rushed to the hospital with brown, bloody urine. Years later, he was still guessing about his hydration. Until Throne. Throne takes out the guesswork. The toilet sensor gives him daily insights and trends into his hydration. It automatically tracks and gives him a clearer picture of what’s normal for him. Your period can make you constipated… and then make you poop more. 🧐 After ovulation, progesterone can slow gut motility, which may help explain why some women get constipated before their period. Once your period starts, prostaglandins that help your uterus contract can stimulate your intestines too. So within a matter of days, you can go from barely pooping to spending a lot more ✨quality✨ time on the toilet. A great example of why we're interested in poop as a health signal at Throne. What happens in the bathroom is connected to a lot more of your biology than we tend to realize. 💩 #periodpoops

Who are you going to trust with your gut health data? Siri - useless at literally every basic task or @ThroneScience - trained and trusted by GI doctors

Severe constipation combined with a lack of resources to improve her gut health was Sara’s “normal” life for years. With Throne, she now has a tool to help her track bowel movements and build consistency for regular, healthy bathroom habits. Throne tracks bowel movement frequency and stool consistency automatically, comparing each visit to her personal normal, so she can see her patterns change over time. Six to eight times a day is a common average, not a pass-fail rule. Healthy frequency can be higher or lower depending on fluid intake, caffeine or alcohol, medicines, pregnancy, age, and bladder size. The useful signal is a persistent change from your own pattern, especially if it comes with burning, a strong urge with little urine, blood, fever, or pain. Frequency alone does not identify the cause.

❗️UPDATE: Throne's new home tab and journal are live. Your gut health, hydration, and bathroom habits are now the first thing you see when you open the Throne app. 🆕 Your home page brings your three key health metrics, hydration, gut health, and bathroom habits, directly to your home screen, each one scored, visualized, and explained. 📊 How it works: Each score is shown as a color-coded gauge that fills so you can see where your data stands. Then, when something in a session stands out such as an unusual reading, a missed log, the dashboard flags it for you and asks for a bit more context, so you can catch your patterns. 📓The home page pairs perfectly with the updated Throne Journal. Logging what happened in your day is now faster than ever, just check off your repeated factors instead of typing them out each time. Both updates are live now in the Throne app. Update to the latest version to see them. 🚽 #GutHealth #DigestiveHealth #Digestion #GutHealthTracking

Consumer health hardware only works if people can trust the data it gives them. @ThroneScience says its sensor correctly classified hydration status in 89 out of 100 samples when tested against clinical measurements. It can also measure changes in urinary flow using sound. The company was founded by @ScottHickle and @Tim_Blumberg, with former WHOOP co-founder and CTO @JohnCapodilupo later joining as a co-founder. They’ve raised nearly $18M, including a $10M Series A led by @willventures with participation from @EmCollective. I spent the day with Scott and the team to see how they’re building and testing a health tracker that works automatically from the toilet. Watch the full INSIDE Startups episode here.

Health routines usually fall apart on the road. Throne's doesn't, because it isn't a routine. Your gut doesn't take travel days - and neither does your data. Use the Throne app on-the-go. Link in bio.

"Two more minutes," you tell yourself. Twenty later... Long toilet sits put sustained pressure exactly where you don't want it, and your phone is usually the reason you're still there. The scroll can wait. Link in bio.
