It's amusing to watch folks bang on about the value of IQ as an 'objective measure of intelligence' while elsewhere hand-wring and shift the goalposts over the validity and robustness of tests for AI intelligence. Surely what is good for the goose...

Need to make sure I'm stocked up on snacks for the long night ahead. No way am I going to miss out on all those sad faces being voted out live.

Hbomberguy 'Chekhov's gun'-ing a stack of books at the beginning of his latest video is peak cinema.

Sometimes we assign to incompetence what is more rightly the consequence of malice by design.

I may be getting old but when did people start calling Armistice Day 'Poppy Day', as if we're celebrating poppies rather than commemorating a cessation of hostilities at the end of WWI?

Since the #Tory Conf I've been considering that they're planning to realign more generally with climate scepticism and being bearish towards green investment to set stage for '29/30 election. This story of a further policy shift strengthens my assumptions: theguardian.com/politics/202…

Opposition parties and environmental groups need to start utilising parliamentary procedures and powers of judicial review *now* to prevent this outgoing government from wrecking the nation further.

The situation in Russia today reminds me of the 'coup' attempt in Turkey in 2016. en.wikipedia.org/wiki/2016_T…

Judging by the news, the curse continues.

I know that Overwatch 2 PvE isn't literally dead, but moving to bitesize missions releasing every Season rather than one long sprawling campaign is enough for me to permanently say 'no thanks'. Esp. given Blizz's track record over the last decade.

It's just not how I prefer to consume SP/PvE content, even if it didn't have an ongoing risk of complete cancellation at any time based on the changeable whims of Acti-Blizz's higher ups.

#Spoilers Season 3 of Picard finished. A good finale, and the season as a whole was even better. One or two odd decisions at the end soured the mix a little (particularly the renaming of the Titan, one of few ships to be granted the -A honorific), but nothing major.

The big (slightly tangential) positive for me however was the long overdue promotion at the end, perhaps setting the seeds for a brand new series? Whatever the outcome, it was a fine bookend for ST:TNG's crew.

Sounds like the SpaceX Starship launch has been scrubbed for today. They're going through with the countdown until 10secs to go, at which time they'll call it.

Sad to see that @stevenbrust's next book, Tsalmoth, is lagging behind the US Hardback release by 6 weeks. No idea why @torbooks does this but I'm still not going to buy a Kindle @AmazonUK .

Glad to see that @starwars have nixed the outlandish idea of retconning the entire sequel trilogy out of canon. Love it or hate it, it clearly brought in a huge number of new younger fans to the franchise and it would be appalling to disenfranchise them.

The proposed movie from Sharmeen Obaid-Chinoy might not go ahead of course - Patty Jenkin's Rogue Squadron project is testament to that. But I'm not against the movie before a single frame has been shot.

LOL i just realized the reason so many people think D4 has a streamer queue even tho so many streamers cant play is the EU queue is so short and the NA queue is OMEGALUL long because they're getting double dicked by the double down KFC offer cause theres so many more NA early LOL
