For the 950th anniversary of 1066, I visited all three battlefields. Here’s Stamford Bridge, where Harold Godwinson destroyed the invading Viking army of Harald Hardrada, 960 years ago this week. The battle also inspired my short story The Bridge Keeper, which imagines the life of the lone Viking who held the bridge against the English army. It appears in the new anthology 1066: Stamford Bridge. Link below 👇👇👇

At the 950th anniversary of the Battle of Stamford Bridge, I heard that a descendant of Harald Hardrada would be attending. I had a terrible fear he'd turn out to be a small, weedy accountant. Instead, I met Gunnar Víking Ólafsson. Former bodyguard at the Reykjavik Summit. Grandson of a former Mr Universe. I think Harald would have approved. Ten years later, we're marking the 960th anniversary with the launch of 1066: Stamford Bridge, a new anthology of Viking stories. (link below!) Delighted to be part of it, alongside some wonderful writers. #StamfordBridge #1066 #Vikings #HistoricalFiction amazon.co.uk/Stamford-Bridge…

If you love historical fiction, you’ll want to check this out. Some…perhaps most…of the leading writers in the genre are getting together for a new anthology: A Century of Swords, an entire medieval world of interconnected stories. Take a look: kickstarter.com/projects/cos…

As any decent fan of historical fiction knows, there is no such thing as too many swords. Well, how about a whole century of them? A Century of Swords is an exciting new anthology project set against the backdrop of the Hundred Years War Website: centuryofswords.net

I can finally talk about this! I've been spending a suspicious amount of time in fourteenth-century England recently, and this is why. I'm writing a story for A Century of Swords, a new historical fiction anthology with a frankly ridiculous line-up of writers from across Europe. More about what I'm writing soon. For now, you can see what we've all got ourselves into here: centuryofswords.net With a stella collection of authors, including: Conn Iggulden, @BenKaneAuthor @GilesKristian @MatthewHarffy @angus_donald @AuthorGibbons @TimHodkinson @manofmercia @AdamPLofthouse @SA_McKay @MichaelJecks @HoskerGriff @tonyriches @GordonDoherty #ACoS #ACenturyofSwords

Who knew there was a Roman fish farm in Alicante? I worked on a fish farm in Tildargs years ago. This one would have been a lot more pleasant
