This is the devastating impact the hospitals actions have had. The coroner ruled “neglect”, only the reverberations of his loss travel so much deeper. Watching our other children suffer his loss pains us to the core. The birth of a sibling should be a happy time, filled with love

Leeds ToR’s have now been published. I feel proud of how many families and experiences will be covered as part of this inquiry. In particular, including maternal deaths by suicide up to 1 year post birth. These women’s voices deserve to be heard too. gov.uk/government/publicatio…

This issue cannot be allowed to wait further while @DHSCgovuk considered internal review processes. Our babies are the only deaths on society denied any route to coronial investigation - that fact does not rely on anything Health does, and must be rectified.

Baroness Amos examined the coroner issue in her @MatNeoInv and concluded that the @MoJGovUK should report without delay. @ValerieAmos also said elsewhere that MOJ was not bound to wait for her report, and called delay unnecessary.

A year ago today, families wrote to the Lord Chancellor asking that the then 6½-year-old duty to report was completed. A year later… we have only just secured a meeting. Another year’s worth of stillborn babies denied justice.
Bereaved families have demanded the Government act on “perverse” lack of scrutiny of stillbirths. They want their childrens deaths subject to independent, coronial oversight, and explain there is a legal duty on ministers to act. Link in next post…

We've now turned our letter into an open letter, so anyone can sign - to support our search for truth and justice, to give us some accountability, and to stop our kids dying. Read the letter and add your name here: openletter.earth/we-demand-a… On the same link you will also find an accompanying briefing note, which gives more detail on the argument for a statutory public inquiry and counters many of those made against one.

I’ve been reluctant to support PI calls - but the Amos report was so flawed & so clearly influenced by the same ideological forces that have driven much of the harm we continue to see - I’m now convinced a PI is urgently needed. I’ve signed this letter & hope others will too.
Replying to @EmilyJBarley

Yesterday, 160 harmed families, individuals and supporting organisations wrote to to @jamesmurray_ldn to demand a Statutory Public Inquiry into maternity and neonatal services in England. You can now add your name alongside the original 160 signatories: openletter.earth/we-demand-a…

The evidence is overwhelming. The #Ockenden Nottingham Review found systemic failures, repeated missed opportunities to learn, poor investigations, toxic cultures, families ignored, and avoidable deaths and injuries affecting hundreds of mothers and babies. 1/

When inquiry after inquiry identifies the same problems, another review is not enough. Families deserve a full statutory Public Inquiry with legal powers to compel evidence, examine national decision-making, and hold organisations and individuals accountable. 3/

One thought from the maternity and neonatal investigation conference yesterday... Defensiveness: often manifests as shifting blame, arguing, or shutting down. For trauma survivors, this can echo past invalidation or neglect, actively removing a sense of safety.

Similarly, I am so disappointed by the way myself and Amarjit were spoken to. It was incredibly patronising and aggressive, and absolutely not trauma informed.
As bereaved mother to Asees & almost having died myself, the opportunity to ask questions directly to Baronness Amos today re her report was key. However, to be patronised by her response I was not. Do better. Not at all trauma-informed @DHSCgovuk @NHSEngland @jamesmurray_ldn

Now that they've had time to get into the detail of the Amos reports on the 12 individual Trusts, I am hearing from families who have found their evidence has been misused. This is deeply, deeply distressing for those involved and also raises further serious concerns about the validity of the investigation. I am hearing of: - a quote about a different NHS Trust being placed in / applied to the report on the *wrong* Trust. - a family being selectively quoted, with the middle part of what they said being *edited out* - the removed part coincidentally does not suit the DHSC/Amos agenda. I would encourage all families who contributed to the investigations into the 12 Trusts Amos focused on to, when they feel ready, check if their evidence has also been misused in this or a different way.

Please explain to me how we're meant to trust any of this report, when we now know at least this part of it was changed to the point 1 advisor had to resign This is why we need a statutory public inquiry, it is impossible for anything else to be independent of outside influence

To be clear - the dispute over normal birth ideology (and Kirkup's resignation) is of grave concern to us, BUT it is only 1 example of the problems with the Amos report. The issues extend well beyond this and into every part of the report, its TOR, its methodology, its conclusions, etc.
