What an amazing life!
Hubert Butler (23 Oct 1900 Co #Kilkenny-5 Jan 1991). Essayist; history, archaeology, politics/religion of E Europe before & during WW2. Travelled to Nazi Austria on own initiative/expense & helped save Jewish people from being sent to concentration camps✡️ dib.ie/biography/butler-hube…
I am glad to finally hear condemnation of the cynical government Covid policy of sending potentially (often actually) infectious patients from hospitals into care homes, causing the foreseeable deaths of thousands of the most vulnerable people.

Does AI undermine human agency?
Looking forward to discussing this at the @LivingFreedomUK forum in London on 24 Nov, 6.30pm! Free to attend: livingfreedom.org.uk/event/l…

Come join me next weekend for debates on AI, drones and statistics - and dozens of other subjects!
FIVE DAYS TO GO TILL #BattleFest 2026

Why we shouldn’t be kind to Claude… although Kant might disagree…

Do we have moral duties to AI? What would Kant say?
Anthropic has banned user cruelty towards its AI model.
But anthropomorphising Claude is a slippery slope, argues @TimandraHarknes 👇

Should we be kinder to Claude? It’s a moral dilemma, as I wrote for @unherd -

Listen if anyone else is scared of a 92 year old one-legged man in a wheelchair holding a dinner knife, just call me and I will come and sort him out without using a taser.

It will never stop amazing me that people who consider themselves pro refugee, pro immigrant and general Pro Good Guys Of the Left sneeringly describe the half-dead Holocaust survivors who went to Israel after having been so failed by Europe as “settler colonialists”
