At this project on Germany’s Baltic Sea coast, Timbeco’s factory-produced timber elements help turn a shared architectural vision into a neighbourhood — with 29 homes planned in the first construction phase. Manufacturing building components in a controlled factory environment allows more work to be completed before delivery. Precision-made elements arrive ready for assembly, reducing the workload on site and significantly accelerating the construction process. Easier everyday life. 🏗️ The next stage of the Akadeemia tee renovation is taking shape: lift shafts are being built within the existing corridors, with new, spacious stairwells to be added outside the buildings’ original footprint. These changes will make getting home easier with a pushchair, improve access for people with reduced mobility and help older residents remain independent for longer. Strandleben is taking shape in Niendorf. 🌿🏠 The project includes 32 timber homes based on six house types — but no two homes are quite the same. Different layouts, windows and individual choices make each building its own small engineering project. Most of the design and technical approvals are now complete, allowing production and installation to move forward in a more continuous rhythm. That is one of the main advantages of prefabricated timber construction: the elements are produced in controlled factory conditions and delivered to site in a planned sequence. This means faster installation, consistent quality and less work exposed to changing weather conditions. The door to the German market is now open. Timbeco has earned the German Ü-mark (Übereinstimmungszeichen) — the conformity mark that clears our timber elements for the German construction market. In Germany, a CE marking alone isn't always enough. Certain construction products must also pass the German building authorities' additional conformity procedure under the Landesbauordnung (LBO). That's exactly the requirement Timbeco now meets: independent certifier BMFcert GmbH has confirmed our timber elements comply with standard DIN 1052-11. Behind this mark is years of consistent work by our whole team — and a quality standard we hold at every step. Three months of learning, innovation & collaboration in industrial renovation — that's a wrap! Together with @TalTech, we concluded a comprehensive three-month training series exploring the technical, economic, and sustainability sides of modern renovation. 🌍 From building physics, energy efficiency, and ventilation to circular economy solutions, fire safety, and cost estimation — participants gained hands-on insight into the full renovation process. ♻️ A key focus was circularity, including an interactive workshop to improve the renovation solution developed in the Drastic project. This week, we had the pleasure of welcoming our partners from Iceland to our factory to see firsthand the progress of the Fossvogsblettur Leikskóli kindergarten project. This marks Timbeco’s second kindergarten project in Iceland and will become the country’s largest timber-structure kindergarten. The project will deliver a modern 10-group educational building in Reykjavík. Educational buildings have always been an important sector for Timbeco. The Fossvogsblettur kindergarten is already the 16th school or kindergarten project to which Timbeco has contributed, reflecting our long-term commitment to creating high-quality learning environments. Production at our factory is now entering its final stages, and we will soon move on to the next phase of the project. Installation is scheduled to begin during the Icelandic summer, providing the best possible weather conditions for efficient and high-quality construction. We have started preparations for applying for the Ü-Mark (Ü-Zeichen) certification, an important quality and compliance mark for construction products in Germany. The certification demonstrates compliance with German construction and quality requirements while providing additional confidence to customers, partners, and project stakeholders. Germany remains a strategic market for Timbeco as demand for high-quality and sustainable timber construction solutions continues to grow. Obtaining the Ü-Mark certification is an important milestone in our international growth strategy and will further support the expansion of our prefabricated timber elements and modular building solutions in the region. The certification process includes product testing, quality assurance, and production conformity assessment by an independent certification body. Production is currently in full swing at the Timbeco Woodhouse factory for the Fossvogsblettur Leikskóli 10-classroom kindergarten project in Reykjavík, Iceland. Wall elements are being prepared, and installation of high-quality NorDan windows is already underway. One of the standout features of this project is the exceptionally large window surfaces, designed to bring abundant natural daylight into the future learning and play spaces. The result will be a bright, healthy, and inspiring indoor environment for both children and staff. Fossvogsblettur will be a modern 10-classroom kindergarten designed by Gríma Arkitektar, with K16 ehf as the main contractor.
