Missed the initial overton window to post this, figured this past week’s market correction would be the next best time to post this retrospective A few weeks ago, I had the great pleasure to host several events around ICML alongside my dear friends at @BCV, @lowercarbon, @chemistry, @SevenStars_VC, @lightspeedvp, and Arcadia: a closed-door visit to the National Assembly, a tech-policy dinner with current and former Assembly staffers, and two late night gatherings at some beloved cocktail/whiskey bars near COEX A special shout out to some of my deepest collaborators on all things Korea: @rkhkimx, @hlynakim, and @sukonehong without whom these events would never have happened (and for @loubohan's Korean AGI branding!) If this month’s market volatility is indicative of anything, it’s that the world still does not quite know how to price in the talent, technologies, markets, and culture running through every layer of Korean entrepreneurship and society. While high level MOU’s and government to government collaborations continue to abound between Korea and the rest of the world, ICML proved what it would be like for a global group of technologists, researchers, and etc. to intersect meaningfully with Korea on the ground level: discussing the latest and greatest in frontier research, critical issues in AI policy, and, of course, the best places to eat and drink in Seoul. I hope that energy carries forward - and that Silicon Valley + the rest of the world can look past the veil of K-whatever hype into the people actually making it happen, both here in Seoul and wherever our ambitions may take us.

Pro-tip for all those in COEX for ICML. Go to the 10th floor of Hyundai Department Store in COEX for nice, hopefully less crowded restaurants than those in B1!

Huge congrats to the Village team! So proud of these guys
Today, we're launching Village to let investors orchestrate teams of agents to scale their judgment. Three years ago, we bet that both humans and agents would need new tools to fulfill the promise of LLMs to transform research. Village is that tool, the first IDE for research built from the ground up so your agents can answer bigger questions, learn from your feedback, and build the AI research infrastructure for your firm. We're starting with public equity research, enabled by our EDGAR and earnings call transcript datasets, and we'd love to hear what use-cases you'd like to see next. The feeling of manipulating huge amounts of information and collaborating with hundreds of Assistants is really special, and I'm excited for you to experience it. Our beta sign up link is below!

Editing chats in GPT is great, but the ability to delete individual messages in a thread, both prompts and responses, would make cleaning up memory and thread length so much easier. Seems like a simple feature to add?

hey, wanna be a founding designer at my startup? we have no taste but we keep hearing ux/design is the biggest differentiator in the ai slop era. btw we're going to give you less equity than the next ten engineers we hire tho. i promise, we're going to be so design-driven, you will love it here. we're also not going to hire another designer until we have like thirty engineers. pls join, we have no idea how to interview designers.

We launched the Mercor Graduate Fellowship to support brilliant researchers who deserve recognition and funding. We’re proud to spotlight one of our 2025 fellows: Mireya Gonzales-Rivera. As she begins her Physics PhD at UC Berkeley, Mireya is building on her research in quantum nanoelectronics and silicon-based qubit architectures. She’s deeply committed to expanding access to research and mentorship for underrepresented students in STEM. With the support of this fellowship, Mireya can focus on research, mentoring, and building the kind of lab she once needed. We’re honored to support her on her next chapter at UC Berkeley.

Life works in mysterious ways. In celebration of their launch, let me share a bit of lore behind @CrosbyLegal. The perfect amount of protection for any fast-growing company 🤟
Today we’re introducing Crosby, a hybrid AI law firm that helps rapidly growing businesses execute faster.  Contracts are connection points. They allow companies to transact with one another and create economic growth. But while every aspect of business has sped up, the way we negotiate contracts hasn’t changed in 50 years.  Crosby is building the API for human agreement. We combine the speed and intelligence of AI with the safety of lawyers-in-the-loop to review contracts in under an hour. Since quietly launching in January, we’ve reviewed over 1,000 MSAs, DPAs and NDAs for some of the fastest growing companies in history, including Cursor, Clay and UnifyGTM. Speed to execution is our north star, and today our median review time is 58 minutes. GTM teams call Crosby a secret weapon to close deals 80% faster. We’re just getting started.  Today, we’re also excited to share that we’ve raised $5.8m from Sequoia Capital and Bain Capital Ventures, as well as the founders of Ramp, Instacart, Flatiron Health, and others. Crosby is a small, talent-dense team, combining lawyers from Harvard, Stanford, and Columbia Law with engineers from Ramp, Vanta, Meta, and Google. Every engineer on our team today is a former founder. We work in person in New York City.  If our mission resonates with you, we are looking for technologists, legal experts, and former founders to join us.  For high-growth companies looking to execute faster, we’ve opened up Early Access. Sign up on our website and we’ll be in touch.

Today we can examine the interconnected systems of manufacturing, communications, transportation, and the like that have arisen during the past two centuries and appreciate how they form de facto a constitution of sorts, the constitution of a sociotechnical order - Langdon Winner

Reminder that this is what American techno-exceptionalism looks like. American technologies, used to traverse foreign lands, being built for the whole world to use and having deep, societal impacts on the people that use them.

This is what the whole psalm [147] is about, that this Lord of the universe, who knows the stars all by name, knows you and loves you. That’s your glory. That’s the boast. That has to be the ultimate boast of your heart. – @timkellernyc Sermon, Call to Worship
