Gomez Addams and M. Bison Legend Raul Julia Passed Away 32 Years Ago at Only 54 Years Old 🎬🕊️ Remembering a true legend, gone too soon 🙏❤️ Few actors could make Gomez Addams feel wildly romantic, M. Bison completely larger than life, and a dramatic role like Valentín in Kiss of the Spider Woman deeply human. Raúl Juliá had a theatrical intensity that could become charming, frightening, funny, or heartbreaking depending on the character. His most acclaimed work often carried real weight. He portrayed Archbishop Óscar Romero in Romero and environmental activist Chico Mendes in The Burning Season, a performance that earned him a posthumous Emmy. At the same time, films like The Addams Family gave him a permanent place in pop culture. Some of his memorable roles include: • Gomez Addams — The Addams Family / Addams Family Values • General M. Bison — Street Fighter • Valentín Arregui — Kiss of the Spider Woman • Chico Mendes — The Burning Season • Archbishop Óscar Romero — Romero • Alejandro “Sandy” Stern — Presumed Innocent • Roberto Strausmann — Moon Over Parador • Carlos / Comandante Xavier Escalante — Tequila Sunrise • Dr. Victor Frankenstein — Frankenstein Unbound • Strom — The Rookie • Franco Bertollini — The Gumball Rally • Michael Reisler — Eyes of Laura Mars • Kalibanos — Tempest • Ray — One from the Heart • Detective David Suarez — Compromising Positions Juliá never seemed limited to one type of role. Shakespeare, political drama, gothic comedy, thrillers, and video-game adaptations all benefited from the same powerful voice and expressive physical presence. Raúl Juliá was only 54 when he passed away, but Gomez Addams’ infectious passion, M. Bison’s theatrical menace, and the depth of his dramatic performances continue to make his work unforgettable. 🎭🕊️
