Another ALDS exit for the #Yankees that comes as no surprise. Offense slumps against tougher pitching. Defense botches routine plays. In-game strategy is reactive. Baseball IQ drops. A series loss without home-field. The recurring themes of Boone's tenure. Yeah, they ran it back.
Brian Cashman insists the #Yankees aren't running it back in '26. He sees enough differences with the roster and remains adamant they're a WS-caliber club. Here's the thing – they're not. They're built for another ALDS loss, since only two players from that '25 series are gone.

Pathetic and embarrassing.
#Yankees are allergic to fundamentals in October. It's not news. And it's only fitting the players responsible for their latest boneheaded mistakes are barely deserving of spots in the lineup.

The Giants are atop the NFC East, by themselves, in October. Very normal stuff going on.

Well, if the #Yankees deliberately started eight left-handed bats against a great right-handed pitcher with the goal of recording one (1) hit on the road in a series-opening playoff loss, they couldn't have performed any better. Futile and pathetic game.

The lesson learned? When Austin Wells, of all players, is placed in a high-stakes position where he has to take matters into his own hands and try to play the role of hero, yeah, maybe you're not the team more deserving of a playoff win. #Yankees
It took Austin Wells less than 30 seconds to save the #Yankees from a humiliating and hitless playoff loss and then completely sabotage the effort in the dumbest way possible. What a player.

#Yankees couldn't have drawn up a better Game 2 beatdown. This time, Max Fried was nails and the small ball really complemented the long ball. The latest chapters of their playoff rivalry with Boston belong to them. And now they're in for a legit fight with Tampa. Up for grabs.
Cam Schlittler is nails, Ben Rice is clutch, and Anthony Rizzo is quite bad as an analyst. #Yankees couldn't have drawn up a better Game 1 beatdown.

Yeah, who really knows. Guess not yet.
The Giants can't have nice things yet. Their debt for two Super Bowls over the Patriots hasn't been paid off. Who knows when it really gets better.

#Yankees can't achieve what they've long been trying to achieve without Judge in the lineup. It's pretty simple. It's not news. Unless his calf strain is minor, and this IL stint is precautionary, they're not playing deep into October. As open as the AL appears, they're just not.

It'd been a long time since the Giants bullied and beat the Cowboys. That was exciting, refreshing, and uplifting. More competent football, please.

Representing the 3,051 children who lost a parent on 9/11 and their families, Brielle Saracini and Sean McGuire threw out tonight’s ceremonial first pitches at Yankee Stadium 💙 As Brielle said in her wedding vows to Sean, “you might be able to break down steel and structure, but you can never destroy love.”
Tonight's ceremonial first pitches will be thrown by Brielle Saracini and her husband, Sean McGuire, who both were just 10 years old when they lost their fathers on 9/11 and found each other through Camp Better Days. Saracini’s father, Victor, was the captain of United Flight 175, which was directed into the South Tower of the World Trade Center, where McGuire’s father, Patrick, was working on the 84th floor. Brielle’s connection to the Yankees began just days after the tragedy, when she wrote a letter to Derek Jeter detailing her family’s deeply personal loss, explaining that her dad would want her to realize her dream of meeting him. Jeter invited Brielle and her family to a game, beginning a lasting friendship and connection with the Yankees organization 💙

In the aftermath of 9/11, only a few miles from Ground Zero, the New York Yankees provided some of the most dramatic and uplifting victories in World Series history before the Diamondbacks prevailed in seven games. Joe Torre, Bernie Williams, Roger Clemens and others reflect on the Yankees falling short in the 2001 World Series. “It just wasn't to be…” 📺 MLB Network Special: When America Took the Field - Live now on MLB Network

When the #Yankees acquired Stanton, it was impulsive, yet also shrewd due to the cost. Yes, it's one of MLB's worst deals because of his injury history. But fans can't say a bad word about him if his time in NY is finally up. He was clutch in big moments, never fazed by pressure.

Old Timers' Day hasn't been what it used to be for a very long time. This isn't news. But maybe attendance numbers would go up with the event moved to a cooler (hopefully) September weekend? It's one of the hottest days in the middle of summer and the stadium is empty. #Yankees

This wasn't the first time the #Yankees entered a deadline as AL favorites and left it mainly doubling down on their volatile roster, rather than addressing weaknesses at key positions. They just love themselves too much. And the familiarity of today didn't give fans reassurance.

There's still a few hours left, but I don't think any fan on this here Twitter dot com is prepared for Cashman's "pencils down" takes on his trade activity. And if there's no sense of urgency from now until the deadline, it must speak to their confidence level in Judge's health.
