Really enjoyed the opportunity to share how we are using our new science space at @WAB_LIVE to empower our learners in my participant-led workshop at the @Learning2 conference in Bangkok. So inspiring to see what other educators are doing to prepare learners for the future, too!
A really meaningful session at #L2learning that got me thinking about how to further empower our students and prioritise our time. Thanks Joel!
Often we want to change things in schools but come across some roadblocks and obstacles.
#UPtime participants at #Learning2 thinking about solutions to barriers in moving to more guided inquiry and personalised learning models in our school.
1. Our new science space at @WAB_LIVE has been buzzing over the last 2 weeks. Our mixed age-group (G7 & G8) cohort was able to choose exploration topics offered by our MS Sciences team to dive deeper into our geology unit.
3. D) Research into how minerals our used and affect our daily lives.
Meanwhile the Grade 6s have been showing their understanding of their foundational unit ‘Science Bootcamp’ by conducting an experiment using bubble gum, toy cars, or soap depending on their preference.
Moving into a new science space with so many communal learning areas has opened up a world of possibilities for our MS Sciences team! Through smart unit planning and timetabling, we’re able to give our curriculum some exciting, learner-centred upgrades. Check it out!
The new #worldclass #science #laboratories fostering collaborative #learning and versatile #study corners have been added to the MS Science space. Go WAB student scientists!

My wife is amazing!!! 😍 – at Beijing, People's Republic of China
The two words I would use to describe Middle School: creativity and color. Both are shown in the #Upcycling Fashion Show that we have been working on for half a year! Congratulations to the students - what a gorgeous display to end our year of learning with.
Students are having a blast showing off their knowledge of ecosystems by randomly generating biomes with dice and creating organism that would live there. It reminded me of Alien Worlds on Netflix, so I showed it at the start to inspire ideas. I love the end-of-year projects! – at Beijing, People's Republic of China
Teachers became students this week as @MsChanEDU & I took a coral propagation course! It was great to be back underwater and even better to take part in #marineconservation work! We collected coral fragments and stuck them to rocks found around the area during our first dive…
Then, we saw a 4-5 year old coral nursery. We found broken coral along the way and reattached them in rock crevices. An amazing experience overall. It is worrying that coral reefs face so much danger, but it was inspiring to see the work being done first hand to protect them! – at Krabi, Thailand
And of course, we made some friends along the way! 🐡🐠🪸 #marineconservation #coralreef #scubadiving #education #experientiallearning – at Krabi, Thailand
in G6 science @WAB_LIVE we challenged students to hook a potato battery to a circuit to play music on a LED reactive audio board. They chose their own IV (# of 🥔slices, size of 🥔slices, ⏱️🥔was boiled for, or type of metal put into the potato), and measured the V. (1/2)
Final lessons of our Chem Kitchen unit at @WAB_LIVE. Ss made pH indicator using red cabbage and tested kitchen items on a paint palette. Threw in some items that weren’t clear to begging with which made for interesting method analysis by Ss. Good fun in the lab, as always!
Measuring the effect of baking powder on the size of cupcakes - a delicious experiment for the grade 6s at @WAB_LIVE. I’m hoping they have as big an appetite for exploring chemical changes! #teachingscience #chemistryinthekitchen
Exploring the properties of physical changes by making jell-o and then attempting to reverse the change by separating the water and jell-o powder. Don’t worry - the students got to eat some as well. 😋 #mypscience #teachertwitter
