A digital tarot deck on the go. When Danielle Hunter found herself looking for work, she made the most of her time and developed the Pocket Tarot app, which leaves interpretation up to the user. My story in This Is Alabama: tinyurl.com/2e9snbw9

For the fall issue of Alabama Magazine, I take a trip to Oxford and Anniston. Take in the autumn air at Choccolocco Park, stroll a downtown community centered around a performing arts venue, ponder the past in the Berman Museum, and stay for dinner. On shelves now.

In college, new CDs were my luxury purchase when things went well. This was one of them.

Had an incredible dinner at @FrankStitt's Chez Fonfon. The Boeuf À la Gasconne was the highlight for me, but I'm grateful we didn't miss this muscadine sorbet.

I've always admired Giles Corey's response. I don't think Corey's grave is marked anywhere, but I've wanted to pay a visit ever since reading about the witch trials in school. I think he's named in the Salem Witch Trials Memorial, though.
Today in 1692, one of the most legendary badasses of all times died. Giles Corey, 81, of Salem, MA refused to testify as to whether or not he was a witch. To force a confession, heavy stones were piled on him for 2 days. His last words? "More weight."

I have an architecture feature in the fall issue of Alabama Magazine. Also in this issue, you'll find articles on pecans, caves, a scenic cemetery, plus a travel piece I also contributed. Look for the magazine with the sudsy Oktoberfest stein on the cover!

Violence looks different in the daylight, as well as in the aged glow of microfilm. An investigator crawls in over his head in chapter 8 of my #horror story, "Don't Look At Me."
