Great to speak to BBC Points West about the Conservative Party Conference, the future of the Conservative Party, and the crucial local elections next May in Somerset. A really important time for our party and for Somerset, with plenty to do between now and May.#CPC26

I was proud to bring forward my dementia motion to Full Council on Wednesday, and I was delighted that councillors from across the chamber voted unanimously in favour of it. This motion was particularly personal to me, having had two members of my own family affected by dementia. Sadly, I have seen first-hand the impact it can have not only on those living with the condition, but also on their families and loved ones. I hope this motion will help raise awareness of dementia and, importantly, ensure that people living with dementia across Somerset — particularly those in our rural communities — can access the support they need. Thank you to everyone who supported the motion and helped me bring it forward. somersetcountyconservatives.…

Labour politicians are working out how to tax you more. My team is working out how you can keep more of your own money. @griffitha @ClaireCoutinho and Richard Fuller are my new Economic Unit. Their job is to find the responsible tax cuts and reforms that let businesses grow, and make sure you feel it in your wages, weekly shop, bills and the cost of your home. We will abolish stamp duty on your home, we will end the Family Farm Tax and Family Business Tax. And we will go further, with responsible plans so that families can keep more of what they earn.

A brilliant evening in Bruton, welcoming 12 residents for a tower tour, a glass of Prosecco on the roof and a chance to watch the eclipse. 🌙🥂 The evening was raising money for a new rope for one of our six bells. 🔔 I had the honour of opening the Prosecco… and, in the interests of safety, the cork went flying off the roof! 😂 Don’t worry — I did pick it up afterwards! 😂 A great evening, a good cause, and thankfully no one was hit by flying corks! #Bruton #Somerset

Everyone starts somewhere. Summer jobs give young people skills, confidence and a first step into work. That’s why we’re campaigning to protect them. We asked the Conservative Shadow Cabinet what their first summer jobs were. Their answers might surprise you 👇
