Bringing bad karma to yourselves right before the biggest series in your organization’s history is #yikes
Two Kenosha brothers who paid $1,000 each for a Milwaukee Brewers "Timeless Ticket" more than a decade ago say the team isn't fully honoring the promise that came with it — the chance to sit in the best available seats for a game as big as the World Series. More at the link in o

I’ve thought for a while the Brewers were the NL version of Rays. Those two orgs develop pitching really well especially SP. It’s something the Padres need to catch up on.

I just don’t want Kwan. When I look at a player now I look at them through the lens of is this guy going to be a difference maker in the playoffs. Kwan is gonna put up a good reg season but with no juice and his speed declining he’s just not a big of enough threat IMO.

Rays up 1 had runners on first and second no outs and put on the double steal
I enjoy how aggressive the Brewers are. Get caught stealing, who cares, continue to put the pressure on. I’m still pissed Padres didn’t try to steal in this situation with their two best base runners on.

Miguel Mendez had it working in the desert. The @SFGiants' RHP prospect fanned five across three frames for Scottsdale and is tied for second in the Fall League with 12 K's in 7 2/3 innings:

Fermin is not a good hitter but he’s one of the best defensive catchers in the game. He’s a backup catcher that was miscast as a starter. Baltimore had 5 backup catchers combine for -0.8 fWAR. Fermin meanwhile was +1.0 fWAR. He’s actually a floor raiser for them.
Replying to @TooMuchMortons_
Because .203 hitting catchers with no power are in high demand

Fermin also is not a free agent until 2030 so he has more value than most would think. Him being already 31 makes all that control a little less appealing but it’s still there.

Per source, the Padres are signing 20-year-old Japanese right-hander Tatsuya Nogami for $300K . At 6'3 & 190 pounds, Nogami's fastball ranged 93-96 mph (semi-hardball) w/ room to add velo. He also features a +splitter and multiple breaking balls ranging 79-84 mph.

No doubt he’s a good player has averaged 3.74 fWAR per season but I don’t love it. He’ll be a rental and he doesn’t have juice. Petco is known to nullify hits. How much of an upgrade is he over D. Harris? I rather go a different direction but he’s better than Jarren Duran though.
Robert Murray & Kevin Acee have mentioned Kwan as a possible Padres offseason target

He shows glimpses of what could be
With Shoki Oda deciding to pursue MLB (either via a minors deal or the NCAA), it's worth noting that Japanese-American Bryan Balzer is now the San Diego Padres' No. 6 overall prospect. Balzer grew up in Japan but went undrafted in the 2022 NPB Draft due to injuries. He signed with SD for just $10,000 in 2023 and has been rising in their system, even touching 100 mph. Players like Balzer and Kenny Ishikawa aren't always in the same conversation as others like Rintaro Sasaki or Shotaro Morii because they didn't have the same prospect pedigree initially and it already feels like they have one foot in the US due to their background. Still, their development as MLB talents would be a success story for Japanese baseball.
