Exactly, That’s what makes the story work. Harry’s heart has to break or it's breaking from that spell that hurt her, and Malfoid has to believe he hates her, because without that lowest point, their reconciliation wouldn’t carry the same weight. Sectumsempra is the tragedy that separates them, but it’s also what sets the entire chain of events in motion.
The beauty of Two Hearts, One Wand is that Harry doesn’t simply save Malfoid from Voldemort. He has to overcome the pain of believing he has lost her, while she has to overcome the belief that Harry hates her. They both suffer, they both make mistakes, and they both find their way back to each other.
And in the end, the two hearts that were nearly torn apart become one united force against Voldemort. Harry and Malfoid finally defeat Baldy together, not merely as enemies turned allies, but as lovers who have endured the worst and still choose each other.
The darkest moment isn't a flaw in the romance. It's what makes their happy ending worth fighting for.
God what a peak and sad story
Sectumsempra has to happen for Two Hearts One Wand to happen. You cannot have the latter without the former.
Sectumsempra turns Malfoid to Voldemort's cause by making her believe Harry hates her.
That puts her on the astronomy tower roof, that's the reason she lets in the Death Eaters, disarms Dumbledore, and inadvertently masters the Elder Wand.
If she and Harry reconcile prior to this, she doesn't do any of that.
If she doesn't do any of that, Voldemort masters the Elder Wand when he kills Snape and EVERYBODY DIES.
The nadir of the arc is required for it to actually reach its triumphant conclusion. And tradcons who are reinterpreting the scene as domestic abuse or a violation of the chivalric form they want the story to take are doing exactly what leftists have done for 15 years: prioritizing the story advertising their values cleanly and without exception over it actually being a good story or maintaining its internal logic.
