Been stewing on it all day, and I genuinely think that Kingsley vaguely looking like Vash and being written the way he was is a more meaningful tribute to Trigun than anything from “Stampede” and “Stargaze”
'CYBERPUNK: EDGERUNNERS 2' staff explained how the sequel draws inspiration from '90s anime
The character designs and art direction intentionally differ from Season 1, aiming for a '90s anime aesthetic that conveys a stronger sense of struggle for the characters
Ikarashi also designed Talia Yang with a late '90s look after president Masahiko Otsuka told him to design her however he liked most. They settled on a "feline" design with a braided, cat-like tail for her hair
For the soundtrack, Ikarashi chose Tsuneo Imahori (composer for TRIGUN) to capture a "late afternoon '90s vibe."
