Final Red Deer walks of the season over the last 2 days - misty & atmospheric encounters yesterday morning and beautifully lit sightings this evening. In the last few days much of the rutting activity has dropped off but we still enjoyed fab walks 😍 @EasternMoors @DerbysWildlife
Visiting family and went for a first walk round @RSPBAireValley St Aidans - a lovely site with good views of Bearded Tit (c12) the highlight. Great views of Kingfisher, Water Rail, Curlew, Kestrel, Red Kite & Stonechat too along with lots of Shoveler, Teal, Gadwall & Lapwing
A double header of Red Deer walks this weekend with lovely groups yesterday evening and again this morning - lots of roaring & great views of some big Stags on both with a birdy bonus of our first Fieldfare (11) and Brambling of the autumn today @EasternMoors @shefbirdstudy
A first Hawfinch reported today - a real iconic winter species in Derbyshire. There are still a few spaces on two of our walks 👇 @Derbyshirebirds @DerbysWildlife

A stroll in the Matlock Forest looking with a lovely group this morning - Crossbill were tricky to pin down but eventually we enjoyed good but brief views of 6 feeding. Our first Redwings of the year posed much more nicely for us! 4 Raven, 4 Mistle Thrush, Siskins & Goldcrest too
*New 2027 Mountain Hare walks now available*

A spot of #raptor watching Corfu-style this am - good views of a/the Booted Eagle again, 2 Buzzard, 2 Sparrowhawk, 2 Kestrel & 4 Raven. A migrant Ring Ouzel gave a feel of the Peaks & Eastern Olivaceous Warbler (2) was a new bird. Also Redstart, Spotted Flycatcher & c20 Blackcap
Spent a couple of days with a more aquatic theme on #corfu - snorkeling locally yesterday and hired a boat, explored the coast & more snorkeling today. Loads of wonderful, colourful fish species with Sargus (White Seabream) the most numerous. Saw my first ever Octopus today! 🐙
A hike up to the abandoned village of Palies Sinies today - well worth the 4 hour round walk for stunning views and a walk around this atmospheric abandoned settlement. Equally good views of Booted Eagle and life ticks in the shape of Rock Nuthatch (3) & E.Subapline Warbler
Another great day on #corfu started with 2 Black Stork circling over the villa. A rare migrant here I believe and a lifer. Lovely visits to Kassiopi and Mount Pantokrator - 6 obliging Spotted Flycatcher & 2 Cirl Bunting (another lifer) at the summit along with top views
Corfu Day 2 - Started with a bang with a probable Booted Eagle over the ridges above Nissaki (a lifer for me!) but the butterflies/moths have been fab all day - Swallowtail, Silver-washed Fritillary, Graylings and lots of Long-Tailed Blues (another lifer but to restless to photo)
First visit to Corfu - stunning island and wonderful views over to Albania. First bird I managed to see well was this Spotted Flycatcher - just like being back at the cemetery! 😂 Sardinian Warbler round the villa too. Very skulking but will try for pics
A walk on the @EasternMoors this morning and great to see plenty of Red Deer with a few big stags starting to gather hinds together - the stags stayed fairly distant but a few groups of hinds were more obliging. 7 Stonechat & a Whinchat were a bonus!
Red Deer, Redwings & Red Admirals (with a sprinkling of Pink Footed Geese!) - October's newsletter from Natural Derbyshire Tours is now available 👇 @Derbyshirebirds

A lovely stroll round Nottingham Road Cemetery - migrants thin on the ground now with just a handful of Chiffs but a lingering Spotted Flycatcher was nice to encounter. 15 Meadow Pipit, 3 Jay, 2 Green Woodpecker, Sparrowhawk, 2 Buzzard and a Red Kite over @Derbyshirebirds
Grey Partridges & Red Kites were the highlights of a lovely stroll with a wonderful guest at #lockopark this morning. Always great to share my local patch with folk! 1st returning Stonechat (2), lots of Meadow Pipits back (& over) & great views of Yellowhammer @Derbyshirebirds
The two Pectoral Sandpiper @STWCarsington this morning - my best ever views of this species in great light and an absolute joy. A county ✅️ for me! Joined by a Greenshank briefly with 12 Ringed Plover, a Dunlin & a Common Sandpiper around Stones Island too @Derbyshirebirds
The local cemetery is a gift that keeps giving at the moment - another excellent morning with a female Redstart, Spotted Flycatcher, 2 Garden Warbler, Whitethroat, Willow Warbler & 6 Blackcap along with the regulars of Green Woodpecker (3), Kestrel & Sparrowhawk (2) @derby_parks
