A 20-year study of a million children found that kids conceived by IVF frozen embryo transfer had double the cancer rate. 84% of US IVF transfers now use frozen embryos. Danish researchers followed every child born in Denmark from 1996 to 2012 for up to 20 years. The study was published in JAMA last week. Children conceived without assisted reproduction developed cancer at 18.3 per 100,000 per year. After frozen embryo transfer, the rate was 41.1. After ICSI, where a single sperm is injected directly into the egg, it was 27.9. After frozen transfer, leukemia ran more than twice as high. The only method that showed no increase was a fresh embryo, never frozen, created by placing eggs and sperm together in a dish. That version is now the exception. In 2021, 84% of US IVF transfers used frozen embryos and 78% used ICSI, according to the CDC. Compared with children of women with a history of infertility who conceived without treatment, the frozen embryo risk stayed at more than double. In the authors' words, the results suggest "procedure-related, rather than infertility-related, factors." This is not the first time the pattern has shown up. A 2019 JAMA study of the same Danish children at 11 years found it too. A 2022 study of 2.3 million children in Taiwan found those conceived through assisted reproduction had 58% higher cancer risk, "mainly owing to leukemia and hepatic tumor." The absolute risk is small, and most of these children will never get cancer. The Danish children were conceived with older freezing methods, and the authors warn the results "may differ for contemporary protocols." Nobody yet has long-term data on IVF as it is done today. Children conceived with today's methods won't have 20 years of data until the 2040s, so today's IVF children are, in effect, the trial. Parents deserve to hear these numbers before they sign the consent form, because their child is the one who will carry the risk. doi.org/10.1001/jama.2026.18…

The Canadian government can't just give all temporary residents PR unless they want to permanently entrench this gender imbalance into our demographics. It's pickle. This is what happens when temp residents skew overwhelmingly male and prior govt had no handle on the situation

WTF is this? No wonder Microsoft is eliminating 60,000 employees. Apparently all they do is snack and lounge around all day... My work day looks NOTHING like this!
This is how a typical day working at Microsoft looked like. These jobs aren’t coming back. AI will do them. Factory worker brain from 60 years ago cannot comprehend such working conditions.

As someone with a portfolio of energized land assets here is what I am seeing: 1. Neoclouds are disorganized and poorly capitalized. Some are definitely better than others however. 2. Hyperscalers are intractable, bureaucratic organizations that take 3 months to do an NDA and want 18mo escrow periods. We built our portfolio by competing against these terms because of our speed and simplicity. The more future assets orgs like ours win, the bigger the problem for the hyperscalers downstream (see 3). 3. There are delays in the existing pipeline that will catch people off guard in 2027. Hyperacalers will (obviously) react by focusing on their own internal compute needs over any third party. If the third party is a model company, they will tell them to go through their model router where they will also take a non-trivial vig. Them telling Ant they have no compute for them (rumored in Ant’s S-1) if true is a huge tell that this is already happening. All of this is to say that it does look like there will be a lot of partially stranded compute and compute sitting in inventory in 2027 than is currently forecasted. This is bought and paid for but effectively underearning (below total cost of capital) or collecting dust. We see this as true for everyone - model companies, hyperscalers, neoclouds except ONE (you can guess which one). This dislocation will benefit two kinds of orgs: the non-bureaucratic big scalers who can build industrial scale quickly and the nimble, well capitalized players feeding them. 2027 will be a turbulent year because it will clear out a bunch of wrong/bad bets. It will also be a consolidation year for a few.

I think we’re going to see a lot of stranded compute in partially complete data centers

Canada once captured Vimy Ridge, stormed Juno Beach on D-Day, and freed the Netherlands from the Nazis. Today, its leaders embrace the regimes of China, Qatar, and Turkey, while locking the comments on their woke posts to shut out criticism,

One person killed by a white schizophrenic is a ‘turning point’ for France but the Bataclan massacre (130 dead) and Charlie Hebdo weren’t? Got it, okay.
Terrorist shooting in Paris suburb marks 'turning point for France', Macron says trib.al/ZstVQnF

Macron called the attack a turning point as the first terrorist act targeting victims based on skin color or religion, but the 2012 Toulouse shootings by Mohammed Merah were Islamist terrorist attacks targeting a Jewish school and victims due to their religion. lefigaro.fr/politique/prem… en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Toulouse_…
