Thread 1/3 I've been working hard on the Build Alpha prop course and am inviting beta students to join the first part of the course. It's moving slower than I expected. Learning to record and edit the videos has been a bigger part of the process than I anticipated.

3/3 I'll also be sharing more Build Alpha work on our Substack over the next few months, including MC permutation tests, noise tests and variance. I'm looking forward to walking through these topics in more detail.

2/3 I'll keep improving the course through the beta before releasing the public version. That may still be a couple of months away. I want to get it out as soon as I can, while making sure the material is clear and ready.

Do your trading rules hold up on related markets? Here is a simple test I use to see if my strategy is robust. We are comparing MES to an MNQ Strategy. #prop #algotrading

A good backtest is a starting point...not a guarantee. It does increase the odds of your trading system surviving changing markets. Read time data is best.

Hey @Grok, Does a stop loss improve the average retail trader’s results, or just lock in smaller losses? Start with yes or no.

A simple strategy I saw posted on here a day or so ago makes a nice example of the flexibility of the new prompt to signal feature. No judgement on the strategy itself. Tested on QQQ over the last 25 years. Fixed sizing. Worth exploring. Three entry signals -RSI(3) less than 22 -EMA(100) higher than 5 bars ago -Price 1% or more below 10-day rolling VWAP Exit -RSI(3) above 55

The Tuesday after Labor Day (so tomorrow) has been down nine years in a row for the Dow, S&P 500, and R2K. Wow. Nice one from @AlmanacTrader
Tuesday after Labor Day: DJIA, S&P 500 & R2K down 9 straight. DJIA weakest, up just 33.3% of the time since 2005, average loss –0.28%. S&P 500 is similarly weak average loss –0.20%. NASDAQ & R2K are modestly better based upon frequency of gains, but performance on Tuesday is negative. jeffhirsch.tumblr.com/post/8…

Spot on. Generating strategies is easy—it’s the feedback loop that actually builds an edge, especially under tight drawdown rules. Teaching the process over the tool is everything.

This is exactly why I’m so excited in where Build Alpha is heading. AI generating strategies isn’t the exciting part. AI learning from the strategies that failed and worked. This is also a major idea behind the training I’m putting together: don’t just teach someone which buttons to click. Teach them how to build a repeatable research process. Build. Test. Reject. Improve. Repeat. Especially when you’re designing systematic futures strategies around tight prop-firm risk constraints. #ninjatrader #prop #microfutures
Prompting AI is useful. Building a research loop that learns from every failed test is much more powerful. Generate → Validate → Critique → Learn → Adjust → Repeat That’s loop engineering, and it’s what Build Alpha’s LLM orchestration is designed to do. Excited to expand this week.
