I made no meaningful progress for the first 6 years of my trading.
What did I finally do that started my upward trajectory?
This is the ONLY shortcut you need 👇🧵
Things I had to learn the hard way, but proved invaluable to my trading 🧠..
A golden snippet from one of our previous livestreams with @TradingInTheNow
"Periods of drawdown are statistical. They're not personal. And so, you have to be able to understand how to manage those periods. And so, after many years of experiencing pain and kind of rejecting this idea and then opening myself up to this, I came up with this philosophy which is something that I want to share with you and something that I had to remind myself of last week.
And that is this idea that time will always fix your frustration, but it will never fix your account balance. It doesn't matter what the market has done. Doesn't matter what mistakes I've made, it doesn't matter how I'm feeling in the moment. However frustrated I am, enough time spent away from the charts will eventually fix that frustration. It will bring that frustration from level 100 down to level 50 or 20 or 10 or to a point where it's far more manageable that you're not going to do something stupid in terms of how you manage risk.
However, if you decide not to have that detachment, if you decide not to have that time away and you decide that you want to try and beat your money back out of the markets, the likelihood is you could get lucky and win some money back and it's probably not the most favourable thing to do because all you're doing is ingraining a bad habit. But in the long term, what that generally leads to is a detriment in terms of your risk management. Whether you pay the price today or whether you pay the price at some point in the future, you're doing something wrong if you're not operating from a point of mental clarity."
Most traders think they're failing because they don't know enough about the markets.
In reality, it's because they don't know enough about themselves.
The barrier to entry to trade is low, but you need money to make money in this game.
It helps strategically AND psychologically.

Trading is a 2 step game.
Step 1 = make money
Step 2 = keep money
You have to learn to play both games if you want to win..

Signs of growth in trading aren't:
- More profitable trades
- Securing payouts
True signs of growth are:
- Recovering from periods of drawdown
- Handling situations where everything goes wrong

Successful traders have spent years creating a mindset that understands two things..
"A winning trade is not a winner if you broke your rules"
"A losing trade is not a loser if you follow your rules"

Ironically, trading will pay the most to those who don't need it.
Trading from a carefree state of mind is part of your psychological edge.

Unprofitable traders seek certainty.
Profitable traders accept probability.
The difference can be that simple.

I've learned many things from 10+ years in the markets..
One of the biggest lessons?
The market will not stop presenting opportunities.
FOMO makes no sense.
There is always another trade.
