Riders, if you ever wonder why your bus is delayed with either longer travel or wait times, this image below is the main reason why and the most common. Complaining to your transit agency will not solve the problem unless you’re in favour or f prioritizing transit vehicles.
ZERO bikes were involved in this nightly car traffic jam on Spadina. Also tonight, 100 bikes passed me on my walk along Wellington from Bathurst to Spadina. That would have been 1 km of cars if they drove instead. Those clinging to cars, you’re welcome.

Commentary I’ve came across many tweets made to TTC and GO transit about subway and train closures on the weekend. Complaining about weekend closures because of an event happening in town is really unhelpful.

For those that say maintenance should be done at night, this is really insufficient. When there are miles of track to deal with but only a 3-4 hour window, this is simply not enough.

I’ve had front-line transit workers reach out to me on this. If a front-line transit worker tells you about alternative routing to get around a closure, listen to them

Very exciting to see Ontario Line tunneling progressing on schedule. The first segment of tunnel between two stations is now complete!
The first Ontario Line tunnel boring machine, Libby, has broken through at the future King West Station after tunnelling its way 1.3 kilometres from Exhibition Station. It’s another great sign of the progress being made on the transformational Ontario Line, which is supporting 4,700 jobs every year and putting nearly 230,000 people in walking distance of transit. news.ontario.ca/en/release/1…

A TTC streetcar *looks* big, but its total space footprint in traffic replaces just 5 stopped cars or ~2 moving ones. A street car can be nearly empty and still be more efficient than cars.

Analysis Freezing fares is popular amongst the riders but it’s not financially sustainable as cost pressures from fuel, labour contracts, materials etc…. will continue to increase.
In her re-election campaign, Olivia Chow touted progress she made during her first term as mayor.  While she proposed some new policies, her platform was largely a pledge to keep going on that work. Here's what she promised for the next 4 years. #TOpoli cbc.ca/news/canada/toronto/t…

Before anyone claims fare capping is going to cost the TTC millions of dollars, fare capping is the equivalent of a weekly or monthly pass which is a fixed price no matter how matter rides are taken. Fare capping doesn’t require riders to pay for the cost of a pass upfront.

Opinion Now that the municipal election results were released, moving forward, hopefully new council members will put public transit at the forefront.

Analysis I’ve done analysis on Mr. Bradford’s transit pledges and I will reiterate them again. Follow along.
Time stuck in traffic or waiting for transit is time you don’t get back. It’s dinner you miss. Bedtime you miss. Time with your family you miss. Toronto doesn’t have to accept that as normal. Vote to get Toronto moving on Monday, October 26.

Having shovels in the ground by 2030 under our current planning rules is simply not doable unless Mr. Bradford find ways to speed up the process. Previous transit projects from planning to shovels in the ground takes on average 5 years or more.

Eliminate subway slow zones is easier said than done? Mr. Bradford hasn’t said much on how he will accomplish this. This means more weekend subway closures, more track staff and putting TTCs maintenance practices under the microscope.
