~2.5M people use the TTC per day, and @BikeShareTO saw nearly 1M trips in August. Now imagine if all those people were driving cars instead. There simply isn't enough room for every single person in Toronto to drive a car. Scalable and sustainable options need to be priority.

TTC’s busiest bus stops should all be as nice as this
Take a look at these concept BRT stops for the Dundas BRT in Toronto. These stops are a big improvement from previous LRT and bus shelters.

Sydney, Australia transformed its central business district for transit and pedestrians by removing cars. Toronto could do the same for King Street. Enough with the half-measures. Ban cars, prioritize transit and pedestrians, build better stops, and plant trees on King Street!
The King Street Transit Corridor feels forgotten. Broken stops, no shelters, no level boarding, no transit signal priority, lackluster enforcement. Toronto deserves better than pilot projects

Just wonderful. A city that is NOT serious about congestion, these buses may as well not exist. This is crazy. Where is the temp bus lane?

Whoever is the next CEO of the TTC should carefully consider the following - here are major issues which I've split into "quick wins" and "less quick wins". Toronto deserves so much better from the TTC, and the opportunity for great transit has never been bigger. 🧵

Subway svc in Toronto has been consistently inconsistent for months and months. In all my years living here it has never been so unreliable and delay prone. It’s enlightening to see how minor of a political priority this is, despite it effecting hundreds of thousands a day.

i wish i said it while here- a frequent, reliable bus is one of the best ways to uplift low income/racialized communities & bring opportunity+supports putting every torontonian in walking distance of a 10-min route + expanded bus priority/lanes would be transformative for equity
"70% of City residents use bus routes, not subways. Most of these are suburban buses. They're infrequent, unreliable & take a long time to get ppl going. It's a barrier to access that ties racialized ppl to jobs, education & facets of life ppl need." August Puranaut, @ttcriders

Departs Bloor Yonge at a crawl, slams on brakes before even fully leaving the platforms. I have never seen the subway in such a bad state in my entire life.

@TTChelps why are there so many reduced speed zones on the subway?

Today's City report is clear: traffic agents on King make traffic flow over 3 times faster at rush hour. That's 40 minutes transit riders can spend having fun — not staring out the streetcar window wondering why it's taking so long.

New data from the city suggests the presence of traffic agents on the King Street transit corridor reduced average eastbound streetcar travel time in the evening rush from 45-65 minutes to 17-21 minutes.
