Men's Golf Climbs To 14th In National Poll transysports.com/news/2026/9…

I can't put into words what Wayne Martin meant to our basketball & golf programs @ Transylvania. From our 1st talk as a HS senior after a game in Clay Co. (he was there to see Richie) to just a few months ago, he made a significant impact on my career. "Coach" made everyone around him better. He was a great coach, a tremendous leader, a giant in KY broadcasting but most importantly, a great father & friend. I was fortunate enough to coach all 3 of Wayne’s sons at Transy. Chris & Matthew played bball/golf & Michael golfed too. Having "Coach" trust me & Transylvania with his 3 sons is something that has always meant a great deal to me. A lot of people throughout Kentucky know about the elite programs we have at Transylvania because of Wayne Martin. He believed in what we were doing, talked about it, supported it and helped give our program a platform & credibility throughout the state. And if we played a game and he didn't see the score or some highlights at 11:20pm, a couple of my dear friends @wkytsports heard about it .... sorry guys 😂. I know for a fact there have been opportunities for our players, our coaches & for me personally that happened because Wayne opened a door, made a phone call, said a good word or simply made sure someone knew what was happening at Transylvania. You can’t put a $ amount on how much he helped us. I’ll always be grateful for what Wayne did for my career but I’ll be even more grateful for his friendship. Thank you, Coach
