are we ready to actually revisit “college is a scam” with genuine honesty this time instead of reflexively defending institutions?
Because that this point:
College is a scam.
Health Insurance is a scam.
Taxes are a scam.
And it’s very hard to argue against that with the experience of the average person who has lived through this economy the at any point in the last 20 years who is under 45…
To such a degree the younger generation is advocating for full blown communism. 🤦🏾♂️ 🤦🏾♂️
Your interesting YouTube stat for the day; YouTube accounted for 14% of U.S. TV-viewing time in July... next highest was Netflix at 8%.
This does not include views on phones or other devices.
The takeaway; cater your content for a more-broad viewing audience. You don't need big expensive cameras or a production staff. But you should test your videos for how well they appear (and SOUND!) on a television.
The audience is there, you just need to give them the presentation they need/deserve/expect.

The biggest lie in YouTube strategy: You should aim for 70% retention.
It's a stupid rule that completely ignores how the algorithm works.
Your retention percentage is heavily influenced by:
(1) The type of video you make
(2) The length of your video
(3) Who was shown your video
(4) Who clicked on your video
(5) The structure of your video
(6) The traffic source that brought viewers to your video
(7) The device used to watch your video
(8) The viewer segment against which retention is measured
Yeah... this is why I keep saying that the only things worth looking at are your views and the behavior shown in your retention chart.

I love it when my students think about the types of viewers on YouTube. Mark looked at this old video that performed really well, then he made 1 tweak based on what the data was showing him to get another 1.6 million views!
STRUGGLING WITH #SHORTS?!
"You need a strong hook. You need the right type of pacing. If you are making educational content, a strong lesson. You can't think of it as a preview into the long form. It is not going to preform if you do it that way. It needs to needs to be executed for that viewer and that viewer behavior."

There's a rumor going around that YouTube is removing the dislike button... that is incorrect.
But they are hiding it behind a menu so that it is less accessible to viewers.
This is unlikely to make a difference to your content; the dislike button is intended entirely as a means of allowing viewers to give YouTube feedback on the content that they want to watch. It isn't a negative reflection of the content that you make.
In fact likes and dislikes are two of the least impactful means of engagement on a video, with there being more valuable on the things that cause viewers to actually return.
If you want to get some engagement that really moves the needle for your channel focus on viewer satisfaction and getting them to return for more. That is the secret sauce for YouTube going forward.
