A big light has just gone out.
John Byrne: artist, writer, wit, auto-didact, Paisley buddy, slab boy, roller of fine roll-ups, music-lover, sharer of hairy dug stories, driest of wits, big wheezy laugher, kindest and sweetest of men, and always the best dressed guy in the room.
Thank you! I had such a fun day, and loved reading to the wee ones especially 🥰 #tumshie
On Halloween, the Rigside Preschoolers were invited over to the school for Story time with Mark Mechin, an author who wrote Tumshie, the forgotten Halloween turnip lantern! 🎃 Thank you for the invite! #transition #partnerships #buildingrelationships @RigsidePS

Thanks so much @CaileanSteed ...
The Boy (age 6 1/2) is loving this sweet wee read by @Tullothy, all about Scottish Hallowe’en traditions (including how flippin difficult it is to carve a turnip). Strongly recommend picking it up, along with his other book Welly Boot Broth!

Are you on #teampumpkin or #teamturnip for your lantern this Halloween?
A wonderful package of artwork and words from the kids of Primary 2 @chapelhallPS arrived for me last week. They read and reviewed my book Tumshie and sent me all their wonderful artwork. I love it so much, thanks 🥰 They are definitely #teamtumshie

"All the restrictions of the last couple of years meant weeks and months often merged into one long, bland stretch with few specific memories to pepper them," writes @MartelMaxwell
"Yet when I look back, I can vividly remember the past two Halloweens."
