.@jose93_ortiz just walked out of First Aid. He’s limping but he said “I’m okay.” He said he is not going to hospital. The horse he was riding stepped on his calf.

This remarkable photograph was taken on 16 July 1929, after a frightened horse bolted with its wagon and ended up in an Amsterdam canal.
The horse freed itself from the wagon and swam to safety, but getting it back onto the street was another matter. Enter Sinck’s horse-hoisting machine, a mobile crane designed specifically for hauling horses out of the city's canals.
Such accidents were surprisingly common; at one point the apparatus was reportedly called out around 50 times a year.
Thankfully, this horse survived, cheered on by quite a crowd!

🗣️ "It's never good to be wide, but the worst of the worst in history in stall 11. No horse has won from it since 1988.
Stall six has been the plum draw since then, with six winners. Stalls two and three are next best, with five victories apiece"

“If the local leader here got a phone call saying, ‘We need to dispose of this horse,’ there would've been people here to do it,” says journalist Tommy Conlon. “It would be an ideal place… to bury a body that you never wanted found.”
He believes remote, sparsely populated Aughnasheelin, Ireland, may be where Shergar was buried. cbsn.ws/4hlRs3i
