Mansfield Timberview Basketball was in action at the GASO event in Duncanville, competing against quality competition and bringing plenty of energy to the floor. A look at the Wolves throughout the event as they showcased their athleticism, toughness and talent across the roster while continuing to build chemistry ahead of the season. Plenty more to come from Mansfield Timberview Basketball. College coaches can track Mansfield Timberview Basketball on the Revocruit software.

For Mansfield Timberview head coach Matt Workman, the identity he wants from the Wolves has little to do with how many shots fall. It starts with being the team nobody wants to line up against. “We want to be the toughest team and outwork the person.” Workman wants that reputation to follow Timberview everywhere — a group opponents know will make them earn everything from the moment the Wolves get off the bus. “They don’t want to play us because not just because we’re talented, because we’re dogs and we’re tough.” That mentality is already showing up behind closed doors. Workman has seen his players completely empty the tank during practices, diving on the floor, flying around and embracing everything the coaching staff asks of them. “Their shirts and their practice gear is soaked, and we’re diving and we’re flying around.” For Workman, toughness isn’t something Timberview can turn on once the season begins. It has to become an everyday standard. “Stay tough every day in everything we do.”

For Mansfield Timberview head coach Matt Workman, simply making the postseason isn’t where the standard ends. The Wolves are part of a program that knows what competing on the biggest stage looks like — and Workman wants to lead them back there. “We have been there to state five times.” That history has created expectations inside Timberview that Workman believes are different from most programs. They’ve experienced deep postseason runs, understand what that level demands and aren’t afraid to set the bar accordingly. “Our standards, I would probably say, [are] higher than most because we’ve been there, know what it takes.” Workman experienced that stage as an assistant coach, but his next goal is personal: get Timberview back to the state championship as its head coach. “I want to get to the state championship game, prove that I can do it myself, not just as an assistant.” The expectations are high because the standard has already been established. Now Workman and the Wolves are working toward adding another chapter to that tradition. “So we set them high. We’re trying to get there.”

Mansfield Timberview Head Coach Matt Workman stopped by RevoStudios for his preseason interview ahead of another year with the Wolves. Workman sat down to talk about his coaching journey, the culture behind Timberview Basketball, the players in the program and what he’s looking forward to this season. 6’2” 2028 Mansfield Timberview guard Willy Bakonga gave a strong glimpse of what he brings to the Wolves during GASO weekend. Bakonga played with confidence and pace, using his quickness to attack openings, create off the bounce and make things happen from the backcourt. At 6’2” with plenty of time still ahead in his high school career, the young guard has an intriguing foundation to continue building on as his game develops. Another talented prospect coming through Mansfield Timberview who college coaches should start getting familiar with in the 2028 class. Mansfield Timberview Basketball turned up the intensity at GASO weekend, with team highlights showing off the athleticism, versatility and playmaking throughout the Wolves’ lineup. Timberview has weapons across the floor, attacking the paint, creating in space and using its athleticism to make an impact on both ends. With multiple guys capable of making plays and a group that competes with confidence, the Wolves gave college coaches plenty to keep an eye on throughout the weekend.
