Sometimes, friendship requires you to stop rescuing people from the consequences of choices they refuse to change. Helping someone should not mean helping them remain irresponsible.

some people formed their entire opinion of you during a season when you were barely holding yourself together. they're having conversations with versions of you that no longer exist. you don't have to confine yourself to the limits of someone else's imagination.

These rappers with FOMO who complain and say I make low effort music make me laugh cuz these fools don’t have any material or invest in their own career 😂🤣

Missy Elliott is one of the greatest songwriters in history and this doesn’t get mentioned nearly enough for me.

Growing older without becoming bitter about everything you've been through. Keeping your heart open while learning from life is no small achievement.
Something people rarely call a luxury but should…

I’ve been talking about this for years. Black music cannot thrive without investment, and it cannot thrive when the people who understand the culture are not inside the buildings where decisions get made.
Hip-hop is being deprioritized by major labels. We've seen layoffs of Black execs, and there are fewer people in key roles who understand how to market the music. Artists considering a deal: make sure you’re partnering with a team that understands and can execute your vision.

THIS
All of you that are Twitter music industry experts should absolutely be tracking all of these mass layoffs just as much as you do album sales, charts, views and gossip. You wanna know why your favorite artists aren’t dropping music? It’s because the black side of the label office is empty.

Please turn this up. In most cases even the so-called “hood n*ggas” just be regular ass people. Vast majority of people are not serial killers, drug kingpins, or belligerent gang members
People that never lived in the hood or projects think the shit is just a bunch of active War Zones...bruh, most are just low income working people and families.

stop treating every uncomfortable feeling like evidence that you made the wrong decision. discomfort is just the entry fee for a different life.

Gone are the days where "everyone knows" a popular recording artist or hit TV show or rising film star or best-selling book. This isn't because music, TV, film, and novels suddenly turned to shit. It's because the modern version of our internet killed monoculture. The end.

Geese? Peso Pluma? Grupo frontera? Like what lol no one knows who half of that shit list is you should be able to name 100s of artists that everyone knows like previous decades but you can’t basically proving my point lmfao.

Hip-Hop comebacks have become rare because we’re a lot less forgiving today. Rap fans rooted for LL Cool J to bounce back in the 90s. But today’s toxic fan is more interested in mocking Roddy Ricch for pushing his album back than being open to him putting out good music.

I had to tell Rapsody what it meant to hear her verse on “Complexion” from To Pimp a Butterfly as a teenager and how much it impacted me. Over a decade later, it’s still one of my favorite verses in rap EVER

"Chop the O sprinkle lil snow inside the optimo, swing the john McEnroe, rap rock & roll , ty D bol gung-ho pro Starsky with the gumsole" Incomparable levels of innovation happening here
If a southern rapper said some shit like this in a verse NY niggas would sound like the KKK describing how much they hate him. LMAO and (Ghost is my favorite Wu member.)
