DeGod lore is Solana, and BTC history
If you are new to this space, let me tell you about Blur.
Yesterday, Blur announced that blur.io is shutting down on November 12. Blend is freezing all loans, and the token dropped to barely a penny.
If you just joined crypto, this looks like just another dead protocol. But two years ago, Blur was the most aggressive, ruthless liquidity machine this industry had ever seen.
Back in 2022, OpenSea felt untouchable. They were valued at $13 billion, charged a flat 2.5% fee on everything, and moved like a slow Web2 corporation.
Then came a 24 year old founder named Pacman with Blur.
Blur was not built for collectors or digital art lovers. It was built like a Bloomberg terminal for degenerates. Fast sweeps, zero marketplace fees, bidding pools, and a massive airdrop that literally paid people to trade JPEGs back and forth all day.
It worked so well that it brought OpenSea to its knees in months. OpenSea was forced to cut creator royalties and drop fees just to survive.
Then, Blur took it a step further and launched Blend.
Blend was basically "Buy Now, Pay Later" for NFTs. You did not need 50 ETH to buy an Ape anymore, you just put down 5 ETH and borrowed the rest. It pumped massive leverage into an illiquid market. For a while, people thought Blur had solved NFT liquidity forever.
In reality, they just financialized culture to the absolute limit.
Once Ethereum NFTs ran out of steam, Pacman moved on to the next shiny thing. He launched Blast, an entire Layer 2 built on the exact same playbook: lock your funds, farm points, wait for an airdrop.
Blur was left behind as a ghost ship, existing only to feed points into Blast.
Now look at where we are today.
Two weeks ago, Blast announced it is shutting down because operating costs are higher than revenue.
Yesterday, Blur pulled the plug on its own website and told borrowers to pay back their loans or get liquidated.
Their official tweet said the marketplace contracts "will remain operational on-chain." That is the polite crypto way of saying the team is walking away.
Blur did not fail because of bad code. It worked exactly as intended: a hyper-efficient liquidity vacuum that extracted every dollar of attention, financialized an entire cultural movement to zero, and left when the music stopped.
Welcome to crypto. Enjoy the ride, but always know when the party is over.

Three months into moving to LA there was a solana hacker house, my first IRL solana event
It made everything feel real & I knew from that point this is the industry I wanted to dedicate my skillset to
I urge people to go to events because you get a completely different level of energy & understanding that the timeline just can't give you
Degods also went on a generational 2 year run after this panel Frank was on
This is actually gold! Been playing with ESP32 devices since NerdMiner OG days, hope this sparks some young creators to bring some cool ideas to life π€π½

iβm looking at SOL through a much longer time horizon than current revenue
if crypto keeps moving capital and assets onchain, the L1s that become core infrastructure should be valued around the activity they could support over decades
Solana today only has a small number of applications generating serious revenue
the upside case comes from what happens if that becomes hundreds or thousands of successful businesses built onchain
for me, that future activity matters more than a snapshot of L1 economics today
Armani Ferrante, CEO of Backpack, on what comes next for tokenized stocks.
"Not 10 stocks, not 100 stocks. We want to bring the entire stock market to Solana. One API where a real share, by any definition of the term, moves back and forth between your brokerage account and DeFi. Going from 200 symbols to 10,000 is the next leap."
