Wikipedia: Line length is too wide, and I'd like to see in it Roman type. Substack: Too airy, the words almost evaporate. #type #typography #readability #substack #Wikipedia #romantype #seriftype

«Book design» seems to mean «cover design» these days – if I am to judge by various search results. This supports my view of typography as an invisible art. I believe I can give the art a bit more visibility here and there. It is, after all, important. #typography #bookdesign

In my work, I almost always choose typefaces with serifs rather than "modern" sans serifs. As a result, I find the text to be more alive, vibrant, humanistic, more approachable. This is often in contrast to a sterile, industrial text block that is devoid of life and emotion.

One doesn't need much information in the letters to infer a well known word.
Today in IP law: someone registered a trademark for CUGGL as a clothing brand in Japan, and sells shirts with the logo partially obscured. GUCCI sued, JP trademark office states that CUGGL is not similar enough to GUCCI to warrant enforcement.
I grew up in a family running a local newspaper, and I recall sitting on my knees in front of cases containing various blocks of letters in many forms – phototypeset prints, Letraset rub-on sheets, even lead type. #typography

Something started to grow in me, and despite terrible handwriting and many detours in my career my fascination for type and typography stayed on.
