I’m done with this place and have moved over to Bluesky: @uajamie.bsky.social
Briefly coming back to this cursed site to let you all know that I have a new podcast! It’s called Enterprisesplaining where each week one of us watches an episode of Star Trek Enterprise and attempts to explain it to the others. Our first two episodes are out today! #StarTrek
True Story: i may have started a entire podcast about Star Trek Enterprise just as an excuse to have a platform to talk incessantly about my love for @Diane_Warren, who wrote the “Faith of the Heart” theme song. We now have a weekly segment about her on the podcast.
George W Bush ran a 5k in under 22 minutes and yet somehow he was still a shit president.
Name another presidential candidate who can place 6th in a 5k with a 24 and a half minute run time.
Go.

My favorite theory so far for why Fox News finally decided to drop Tucker Carlson is that it wasn’t the white supremacist talking points or transphobia or even the $700M lawsuit, but that Rupert Murdoch just wanted to cancel his ex’s favorite tv show.

The last-paragraph plot twist in this @AskAManager update letter made me gasp out loud. Someone needs to secure the rights to this romcom stat! askamanager.org/2023/02/upda…
I watched The Last of Us premier last night, but it seemed really unrealistic that a teenager in 2003 would be wearing mid-rise jeans.
Instead of stamping out extremists in their party when they were a small ember, the GOP spent years fanning the flame through misinformation & then used gerrymandering to create the perfect conditions for these extremists to get elected to office. Now they reap what they sowed.
They seemed to assume this group would remain a small enough minority in their party that they could reap the benefits of their fan base by catering to their whims just enough, while still remaining in control of the party. They are finding out this week how wrong they were.
Since Kevin McCarthy’s concessions to the Freedom Caucus didn’t solve his problem, this would be a good time for democrats to come in with their own list of concessions.
Parliamentary systems often don’t have a majority party. Instead, they form a coalition with a smaller party that together forms a majority so they can select a leader. I’m just saying, it may be smart for the GOP to form a coalition with a group of conservative democrats.
