Not the tour anyone booked… A Golden Tours open-top bus hit a stand selling sightseeing tickets and souvenirs on Spring Gardens, just off Trafalgar Square, at around 12:30pm today. The bus was reportedly turning left by The Admiralty pub when it collided with the stand. Police called it a damage-only collision, London Ambulance Service said there were no reported injuries, and fire crews from Euston, Paddington and Chelsea attended. The area was cordoned off for nearly five hours while the bus was removed. Golden Tours says it is investigating what happened. Barclays is cutting around 5,000 jobs this year as it uses AI and new tech to do the same work with fewer staff 🏦🤖 That's about 5% of its workforce. Around 1,000 roles have already gone, and the other 4,000 are expected to go before December. About 60% of the cuts will hit support roles, including software developers, and most of the savings come from the UK high street bank. It comes as Barclays reported a 12% rise in profit to £2.3 billion for the last three months, plus a £500m share buyback. Boss C.S. Now jailed for terror offences 🚨 Yusuf Shah, now 18, from Ilford, was pulled aside at Heathrow in January 2024 under Schedule 7 of the Terrorism Act, which lets officers at ports and airports stop and question anyone without suspicion. Police say his phone showed he had been reading an al-Qaeda online magazine and downloading terror attack material. In Telegram groups, he advised members on making untraceable crypto donations to al-Qaeda, and $1,376 was later sent to an al-Qaeda QR code using his method. He also wrote "A Guide on Cybersecurity" for a Taliban group. After a five-week trial at Kingston Crown Court, he was convicted of five terror offences and jailed on Tuesday for four years and two months, with a 10-year notification order. Counter Terrorism Policing say he was being drawn in online from the age of 13 or 14. And he's not alone. 46 under-18s were arrested for terror offences in the year to June 2026, the second highest number on record, according to Home Office figures. £3,000,000,000,000 😳 The UK’s national debt has passed £3 trillion for the first time ever, according to official figures out this morning. The Office for National Statistics puts it at £3,005bn at the end of September. That works out at roughly £43,000 for every man, woman and child in the country, or over £100,000 per household. It only passed £2 trillion in June 2020. The government borrowed nearly £25bn in September alone, more than expected, and spent £10.9bn just on interest. That’s the highest September interest bill since records began. Private parking companies handed out a record 16.9 million tickets last year. Now the rules are changing 🚗 Andy Burnham has announced a new code for private car parks across England, Scotland and Wales: a 10-minute grace period when your time runs out, honest mistakes cancelled on appeal, a £20 max for slips like typing the wrong reg, and a £100 cap on charges. Firms that ignore it could lose access to DVLA data, which is how they track drivers down. "These charges leave people feeling ripped off and out of pocket, so I'm putting a stop to them," Burnham said. The RAC called it a step in the right direction, but said it doesn't go far enough, with debt recovery fees still allowed on top of tickets. Council parking tickets aren't covered, and the new rules still have to go through Parliament before they kick in. Elizabeth line and GWR passengers had severe delays this morning after a vehicle hit a bridge in the Langley area, with trains made to run at reduced speed on all lines between Paddington and Reading.
