The Ministry of Energy and Water Resources @MoEWRSo, in partnership with @UNDPSomalia, convened the State-Level Stakeholder Validation Workshop on the Draft National Clean Cooking Strategy (NCCS).
The workshop brought together representatives from Federal Member States, government institutions, development partners, and key stakeholders to conduct a comprehensive review of the strategy, explore investment opportunities, evaluate financing mechanisms, and define state-level implementation roles.
Director General Abdullahi Ibrahim Abdi officially opened the workshop, emphasizing the critical importance of federal-state collaboration in advancing sustainable, clean cooking solutions across the nation. He underscored that effective implementation of the NCCS will be vital to protecting public health, safeguarding the environment, driving green investments, and empowering women and vulnerable communities.

In Somalia, UNDP, with support from the @SaudiFund_Dev is pairing new water infrastructure with community engagement so that water services are sustainable.
Community consultation workshops in Inagabile, Gadoon, Haadweyne, Yeed and Qaloocato are giving residents a direct say in how their water is managed.
For each new borehole constructed, a Water Management Committees has been established and oriented, with operations and maintenance training planned to support the long-term management of water facilities.
The Sustainable Access to Water for Rural Communities Project, has so far benefited 36,000 people towards its target of reaching 120,000 direct beneficiaries. Following the successful completion of three boreholes in 2025, a further seven are planned for completion in 2026, bringing the project to its overall target of 10 boreholes.
