What would you build if there weren’t a highway in the middle of your city? That’s the question we’re posing to these future leaders of Dallas.
So far: not one single one has recommended more roads/pavement.
The @PaulQuinn1872 x @earthxorg EJ Summit was a blast! @EvelynMayo14, Ciny Hua, @TheBetterBlock, @cleanerair, Jessie Zarazaga (@lyleengineering S+DP), and many others worked hard to make this weekend possible. The I-345 diorama will be on display at the FREE Expo all weekend!

This and countless other even more submerged acts of violence are the foundations of this city and no person of conscience should lay a single brick on it without reckoning with that reality
Today, we recognize the 113th anniversary of the lynching of Allen Brooks, a 59-year-old Black handyman, who was lynched by a white mob at the intersection of Main and Akard in downtown Dallas.

1/3 We are incredibly grateful to @msberbiage for sharing her work reclaiming the history of Dallas' Black schools, insights on their erasure, and actions for moving forward last night at the second installment of our Urban Research Speaker Series!
2/3 Amber recommends that, moving forward, we: (1) Reimagine how we think and talk about Black spaces, (2) Acknowledge and protect Black spaces, (3) Create policies and practices that consider the history of Black places
3/3 Thank you to everyone who joined us. We hope you are inspired to learn more about Dallas' untold histories and get involved! To watch Amber's talk, click here: tinyurl.com/URC-AmberSims
