Energy security means taking charge of your own energy. I welcome the UK moving forward with Jackdaw and hope approval for Rosebank follows. Developing Britain’s own North Sea resources supports UK businesses and its people. A stronger, more secure UK energy sector benefits us all.
Last week, Consul General Porter traveled to Shetland. Thank you to Shetland Islands Council, Lerwick Port Authority, Sullom Voe Terminal and SaxaVord Spaceport for their warm welcome and great conversations on the importance of U.S.-Shetland economic and cultural connections.

The UK is an important market for American rice, with farmers and processors around the United States producing high-quality rice for consumers here. I welcomed rice producers from Arkansas, Louisiana, and California who are in London to strengthen connections with British buyers and create new opportunities for U.S. rice exports.

I was honored to deliver the Sir Evelyn Wrench Lecture at the English-Speaking Union’s @theESU annual event. Our shared language is integral to the bond between the U.S. and UK, as is our commitment to free expression, open debate and strengthening ties between our people.

Strong economic partnerships don’t happen by accident – they happen because people invest the time to build them. It was great to welcome the JAXUSA Partnership & @JAXChamber to the Embassy during their 13th annual economic development mission to expand connections between Jacksonville, Florida and businesses and organizations from across the UK. The 🇺🇸&🇬🇧 are turning bridges across the Atlantic into superhighways!
Great to visit the Minnesota Vikings flag football clinic today! Flag football brings people together through teamwork, skill, and sportsmanship and it’s exciting to see it growing in Scotland before it makes its Olympic debut at #LA28. 🇺🇸🏈🏴

Spoke at the Extraordinary Leadership Council of @TheCityUK about the strong, trusted trade and investment relationship between our countries and the work that still needs to be done to boost prosperity and increase choice for UK consumers. The United States wants the UK to succeed; we want this partnership to deepen; and we want our financial and professional services to continue to lead the world.
A big thank you to Prof. Murray Pittock for delivering his Freedom 250 salon lecture on Thomas Paine’s “Common Sense” as part of Doors Open Day on Saturday.
And thank you to everyone who visited the Consulate as part of Doors Open Day. We were delighted to welcome so many people and share a little of our work and history of U.S.-Scotland connections.

Energy abundance and affordability are key issues affecting homes and businesses on both sides of the Atlantic, which is why we convened partners from across government and the private sector to facilitate discussions in this field. Building and strengthening connections is vital for 🇺🇸&🇬🇧 economic growth and energy security.

This is a historic milestone for the U.S., UK, and AUKUS. The @USNavy and @RoyalNavy successfully test launched an exercise U.S. Mk 48 torpedo from an unmanned UK undersea vehicle in Scotland. American and British technology and capabilities working together to deliver the interoperability that will make AUKUS a formidable alliance.

In the aftermath of 9/11, the British people joined us in mourning. We received thousands of letters and mementos at our embassy from people across the UK, and those tributes bear witness to the strong friendship between our nations. If you recognize any of these items or took the time to express your solidarity with us 25 years ago, we’d love to hear from you. Share and comment below.

Good to meet with @USTreasury Assistant Secretary Jonathan Burke to discuss Operation Economic Outcast which aims to cut the Iranian regime’s routes to the international economy. Through depriving Iran access to London and other financial centers, we can limit their ability to fund military production for themselves and their proxies.

Great to host members of the American European Business Association at the Embassy. A key message from @POTUS @RealDonaldTrump is that our countries are stronger when we trade, invest, and grow together. There is still much more we can do to reduce barriers for businesses, and I look forward to working with the AEBA to bring more jobs and greater prosperity to our countries.
