NEW LEASH ON LIFE: From the streets of New Mexico to serving those who serve our nation, Chloe has found her calling as a U.S. Border Patrol Critical Incident Response Canine.
The Animal Rescue League of El Paso saved Chloe from a high-kill shelter in New Mexico and quickly recognized her abilities and potential.
Chloe now works in Louisiana, providing comfort and emotional support to agents, employees, and families during critical incidents, times of grief, and high-stress operations.

Feel good story: From the streets of Deming, New Mexico — to making @BorderPatrolHQ history.
Meet Chloe, the first rescue dog to graduate from the U.S. Border Patrol Canine Academy as a Critical Incident Response Canine. She even received the Border Patrol’s first-ever canine oath of office.
Chloe was pulled from a high-kill shelter in February — after being placed on the euthanasia list less than two weeks after arriving. The Animal Rescue League of El Paso saw something special in her, and just three months later, she graduated from the Border Patrol Canine Academy.
Now assigned to a Border Patrol Agent in Baton Rouge, Chloe helps provide comfort and emotional support to agents, employees and families following critical incidents, trauma and loss.
She’s already supported the family and colleagues of a fallen Deputy U.S. Marshal and visited hospitals to comfort seriously ill and hospice patients.
From needing a second chance herself to now helping others through some of their hardest moments 🙏🏼

CBP is pausing all construction activity in Big Bend National Park while I visit and conduct a personal, on-the-ground evaluation.
CBP is firmly committed to protecting America, and that includes our national treasures like Big Bend National Park (BBNP). We know the current and predictable national security threats and they are real. Now over the next couple of days, I will join a small team to evaluate the terrain and listen to local leadership, community members and stakeholders to ensure that we secure our borders while simultaneously protecting BBNP for generations to come.
