66 aliens. A 30-foot makeshift boat. 70 nautical miles off Puerto Rico.
An HC-144 crew spotted it. USCGC Winslow Griesser (WPC 1116) interdicted it. Saturday, the crew repatriated 63 to the crews of Dominican Republic Navy vessels.

One year of Operation River Wall: boat crews running the river alongside U.S. Border Patrol and the Department of War, doing what the Coast Guard has done since 1790, and doing it with a layered, integrated approach to southern border security.
Through an unprecedented mobilization and innovative capabilities, we’re adapting to evolving threats and continuing our legacy of tactical boat operations. Operation River Wall is the latest chapter in that story: the right people, the right boats and the right authorities, delivering for the American people. 🇺🇸⚓

USCGC Tampa (WMEC 902) offloaded 29,600 pounds of cocaine and 3,355 pounds of marijuana in Port Everglades, worth an estimated $226.7 million.
The Portsmouth-based crew stopped it all at sea. Over six interdictions in the Eastern Pacific, Tampa teamed up with LEDET 102, HITRON, JATF-S, the Southwest District and the USS Gridley to find, track and stop the traffickers far from our shores.
Every pound seized cuts off cash to the criminal organizations behind the violence and overdoses that reach American communities.
It's all part of Operation Pacific Viper, where Coast Guard crews have now seized more than 260,000 pounds of cocaine.

With the remnants of Hurricane Isaias still working through, storms continuing across the Pacific, and heavy-weather season settling in across the Northwest, a lot of mariners are checking the forecast and making a plan. ⚓
Here’s one worth having on board: a registered 406 MHz beacon.
July 2024, 200 nautical miles from Palau: the 154-foot yacht Black Pearl is stranded. A satellite alert puts a position on a watchstander’s screen, and the crew of USCGC Oliver Henry (WPC 1140) goes straight to them and tows them home.
A position, not a search area. That’s what a beacon does.
