Tibo revealed that they finished 6 months of work in less than 30 days with a week to spare before the event.
The task: chatgpt on web and desktop were running on two completely different codebases. two teams building the same features twice.
They decided to merge everything into one, for a product serving over 100 million users where you can't afford to break anything.
500 people. 1,000 pull requests per day. all hitting the same codebase.
He said they've had to completely rethink what's even possible. a year ago no one at openai would've believed this timeline.
