Another heads-up for the #glycoRNA community from Uni Marburg👇There are many glycoproteins co-isolated with RNA by TRIzol method. They persist throughout RNA sample processing and are not easily degraded by proteinase K. Careful what you are looking at in an RNA blot!
Proteins are a source of glycans found in preparations of glycoRNA biorxiv.org/content/10.1101/… #biorxiv_molbio
Yes, viruses like it sweet! @UUUIPS CBDD researchers @TheBoonsGroup and @RobertPdeVries1, together with researchers in Erasmus Rotterdam, were awarded an #ENW-XL from the Dutch Research Council (NWO). It’s #glycotime for virology! #glycovirology

HKU1 - TMPRSS2 done ☑️! Now time for OC43!
The new issue is out! 👉 lnkd.in/ectCFkH
This issue features a high resolution structural analysis of the Prototype Foamy Virus, a pan-cancer proteogenomics study that expands the landscape of therapeutic targets and the recognition of the TMPRSS2 host receptor by human coronavirus HKU1!
On the cover: The cover image represents human coronavirus HKU1 in complex with its receptor TMPRSS2 present on a target cell membrane, as elucidated by Fernández et al. The crystal structure of the HKU1-CoV spike in complex with TMPRSS2 provides insights on coronavirus receptor usage, host specificity, and pathogenicity.
