Indeed, the "History of Information Graphics" is a marvellous book. I can only recommend this to each information designer, along with the siblings books "Information Graphics" and "Understanding the World". Inspiring, enlightening, insightful.
Over the past 2-3 months I've been thoroughly enjoying @srendgen's excellent "History of Information Graphics", reading a few pages each morning at breakfast ^^ Middle Ages wasn't my thing, but it keeps on getting better with every era afterwards! Such a BIG and beautiful book!
I agree "best textbook" for #islr in regards to the content, and the explainations. BUT: during reading it, this expensive #springer book was falling into pieces (=pages) as I was reading along. Due to low quality bookbinding. Should not happen with a science hardcover book.
This was honestly the best textbook I have read in a really, *really* long time (exception: de la Fuente's Mathematical Methods & Models for Economists). It is concise, well-written & comprehensive. It is lovely (& that's not a word I would generally use to describe Econ books!
