ALT The meeting, which is bringing together district political leaders, technical staff, security organs and community members, is providing a platform for residents to present petitions detailing alleged mismanagement of government projects and funds in the district. Hon. Barugahara says the engagement is part of government’s commitment to strengthen transparency, value for money and service delivery in Local Governments. These are some of the concerns Residents are tabling for ministerial intervention: 1. Burime Piped Water Project Over Shs100 million was reportedly spent on a piped water project in Burime Parish. Residents say the project has since failed and there is currently no water supply. 2. St. Paul’s Secondary School Project A Shs500 million project at the school is said to have stalled. 3. District Fish Hatching Project Residents are questioning a Shs60 million fish hatching project at the district, saying there is nothing on the ground to account for the funds

ALT to get a first-hand account Several challenges were raised, including persistent plumbing problems, lack of an X-ray machine, an outdated generator installed in 1971, and understaffing. Hon. Balaam assured the community that government is committed to fully renovating and equipping Itojo Hospital, which serves as one of the main highway hospitals along the Ntungamo-Mbarara corridor. On the critical issue of the X-ray machine, the Minister immediately contacted his senior colleague, the Minister of Health, Hon. Dr. Chris Baryomunsi, who has pledged to have a new X-ray machine installed by mid-December. He added that a new generator will also be installed to replace the old 1971 generator.
