Vetra was really the only viable romance for me in Andromeda because she was one of only two companions aboard the Tempest I didn't hate or was annoyed by; the other being Jaal. Drack was an old fart that felt paradoxical to what a Krogan is, Peebee has nearly gotten me killed multiple times by being a self-centered bitch, and I would've shot Cora and Liam dead if I had the option to do so because it would mean they would never be capable of talking ever again. Then again, as an older sibling, I could also relate to Vetra pretty easily. Even what few interactions she had with her sister were funny. Even then, she's essentially Garrus again, which is only bad in that I was hoping she'd be her own character. Outside of running guns and being closer to her sister than Garrus was to Solana (which is saying something), she wasn't much more than R63 Garrus. But as I said many times in other posts, I like Garrus; he's my Shepard's brother from another mother. That, and she oddly paired well with Jaal as my other companion, because of his whole "Warrior Monk that hold great curiosity and suspicion of the alien foreigners he's working with to save his people." Her crafty, driven and sometimes underhanded ways clashed with his ethical code well, while both had a deep family oriented ethical core to them. Bare in mind: I hate Andromeda. I prefer its gunplay and added verticality, and would add such to the OG trilogy if I physically could, but it is not a good game and barely a Mass Effect game. My praise mostly comes from the egregious and aggravating fact that there was potential here that was squandered by ego, laziness, ideology and the clinging need to make this game a Joss Whedon-alike story in writing. Everything in Andromeda could have made it a worthy and worthwhile spin-off if the main impetus behind its design wasn't so brain-dead stupid.
