🏅Smashed my 50k PR today and took the win. Strava mile splits and stats in thread. Super pumped!!
Feels pretty safe to say I won't be getting any other PRs this year. Hip is definitely shot. Not how I was hoping to end the year. Came out with 1 PR at least for the year at the 50k with a 3:26. A PR year is still a PR year though. 🙏 Will update you all next week after the Dr.
Nice run in LA today with great weather as always. Somehow my hip felt worse taking almost the whole week off. 🤦♂️
I am using Starlink right now on an Alaska Airlines flight. I gotta say it is seriously impressive. I am currently watching YouTube while other videos play on my X feed with zero lag.
Hope you all had good runs this week. Keep showing up and keep pushing. Plenty of time left in the year to get that PR. 💪
"It's a generational buying opportunity". This is gonna be the quote of this cycle as people keep averaging down on many stocks that will never bounce back.
One of those days at work where you just gaze out the car window and feel like you haven't blinked in 5 minutes. You know the feeling.
😬 4 mile session today in Arizona. Beautiful weather for a run. Somehow faster splits feels better. Not sure why.
2 mile warm up
6 x being in denial about my hip
Half mile cool down
The debt has always been the concern. Not the demand. Be careful thinking everything is fine again because someone says demand is exploding. Some companies will do huge things. Some will go to zero. If you feel yourself clinging to "hope", then please rethink your plan. 🤝
You all know me well. When you see me post a 2 mile run then things aren't looking good. That marathon did something pretty bad to my hip. May be out a bit. 😔
If every run requires you to foam roll every muscle just to feel okay again, you probably need to adjust your plan.
Constant knots, aches and pain shouldn’t be your baseline.
You may be doing too much too soon, neglecting strength or mobility, or simply not recovering enough.
Nice and easy 10k today with my buddy. Little sore from some weights yesterday, but nice down week after the marathon.
Hope you all had a good run today. 👊
I dont care if you ran 10 miles this week or a 100 miles. How did your week turn out? Did you hit your goals?
🏃♂️ Nice 10 miles with my buddy this morning. Hip felt a little better today. Came home and my cat plopped right on my lap. 😅
How do I fuel for a marathon? 🏃♂️
This is one of the most common questions I get from runners who are new to the marathon.
Lately, this has been my go-to fueling combo:
I take my first SiS gel around the 18–22 minute mark, then alternate with Amacx gels throughout the race.
If you are going to go with SiS as your only choice, I would recommend going with the electrolyte version to get a little sodium. Standard SiS gels only have 15mg of sodium while the electrolyte version has 200mg. I prefer Amacx and SiS combo just because I prefer how thin of a liquid the Amacx gels are vs SiS.
⚠️ Important: 100g of carbs per hour takes gut training. Practice your fueling strategy during training before trying it on race day. Your stomach will thank you. 😂
For hydration, I also like wearing a waist belt with a small bottle. It's definitely not necessary, I just prefer having my own fluids, and the belt doesn't weigh me down or bother me since its an all in one built into the shorts.
If you don't want to carry a bottle, I'd recommend grabbing a cup at every table. Even with around 12-15 aid stations, you may only actually get 20 oz of fluid in your mouth over the course of the race unless you're willing to slow down or stop to drink.
Hope this helps a little on how I approach the marathon. I use this same strategy up to 50 mile runs.
I'll share links below for the shorts/belt setup I use.
And if you're looking for a running coach, send me a DM. I can point you toward a great coach who won't break the bank. 🏃♂️💨
