Men’s football
Men’s basketball
Men’s hockey
Volleyball
Women’s basketball
Every student has to pay for them.
But oh no, we can’t find money to literally flip the lights on to reinstate men’s indoor track. 🙄🙄

Not planning to anymore (as of now)
If you didn’t think he planned for this all along, you are very stupid

Seeing @UMNews @GopherCCTF men do so well at the @NCAATrackField championships thus far is heartwarming. It means that all our work to save the team in 2020 was worth it.
My goal was to help that kid whose name I would never know. Years later, I can say that I have. @UmnMen
In the NCAA, Black athletes are only in 3 sports in large numbers: football, basketball, and track. So when schools like @UMNews cut track and field, they are cutting their Black athletes who don't make them money. Read my piece in the @StarTribune here: startribune.com/college-spor…

(🧵7) We need transparency about issues before the Board and WHY decisions are made.
Transparency stopped Gabel’s quid pro quo with Securian & was how we knew Reg. Sviggum thought we were “too diverse”. What will they get away with without oversight? What do they want to hide?
Gopher AD Mark Coyle says big decisions are coming for athletics as they deal with financial pressures created by a new revenue sharing model for athletes. Could more sports be on the chopping block?

Column on my conversation with Gophers AD Mark Coyle about how his department will fund the $21 million annual payout to athletes in new revenue sharing system if NCAA settlement gains approval.
University of Minnesota will need to pay its Gophers athletes; Mark Coyle leading charge to figure it out startribune.com/ncaa-settlem…

A @TCBmag top 100 person is UMN Regent Janie Mayeron - ?
Remember that she was the swing vote at UMN to cut the sports teams, she wanted Outdoor Men’s Track kept because of the bad PR of cutting so many black athletes.
She was fine cutting indoor track.

Men’s sports have been cut for future proofing department because of rising costs due to this.
Department paying all players means there will be fewer players.
Give you guess which sports are impacted. 🏃♂️ 🏃♀️
U.S. Sen. Chris Murphy of Connecticut on today’s Dartmouth union election:
“Now it’s time for the colleges to stop wasting their time and money fighting athletes in court and lobbying Congress to roll back athletes' rights, and instead start negotiating with athletes on revenue-sharing, health and safety protections, and more.”

The end game
We knew this was coming
An election that would create the first-ever labor union for NCAA athletes is suddenly possible after a determination that Dartmouth basketball players are employees of the school. startribune.com/nlrb-regiona…
Just has a three cut team summit
Meetings scheduled for next week.
We’ll need you there.
Emails coming out today
We tried to meet @UMNAlumni
Asked Lisa Lewis to help us broker a meeting with the then president
No response
not saying we should have track alumni show up to everything UMAA does and only ask about why they were cowards to help reinstatement, but they have earned it
Two ish months left until indoor
That Minnesota men’s track doesn’t have because no regents would possibly believe that the roster numbers were cooked up

Cutting women roster spots to then cut menus track was culture huh
We did a FOIA. The data is there. 🤷🏻♂️
“Every conversation I have these days involves name, image and likeness,” said Coyle.
Apparently cutting sports is over to him. Not to us.
A colossal POS

Doesn’t list where the $14m is from
Again, indoor men’s track costs about $150,000 total and it was cut
