Havering bin workers have reached breaking point! 🗑️ Low pay and poor conditions have pushed workers to the limit. While workers earn barely above minimum wage, FCC profits from its outsourced services contract. We asked locals: is this fair? 👇 @unitetheunion

With inflation at 3.1%, could you afford a 13.5% pay cut? 📉 The Forest School in Snaresbrook charges over £10,000 a term for secondary pupils, yet is cutting the contracts of the workers who keep students fed and the facilities safe and clean by 7 weeks. @unitetheunion

It seems the council’s leadership would rather let residents, businesses and tourists suffer a summer of rubbish than address the deeply unfair poverty pay rates these essential workers are expected to survive on. The only ones thanking the council for causing these strikes will be the seagulls and the rats. Strike action can still be avoided, but that will require an acceptable offer.

Council workers keep our communities running every single day 🤝 From collecting our bins and maintaining our streets to supporting children in schools and caring for vulnerable people - they deliver the services we all rely on. After years of below-inflation pay deals and pay freezes, they're now being offered another real-terms pay cut. Unite national officer for local authorities Clare Keogh shares why after years of being ignored, workers must use their voice 📣 Stand with council workers as they fight for the fair pay they deserve. #FairPay #CouncilWorkers #LocalGovernment #union #strike

They keep Great Yarmouth streets clean, work in some of the toughest conditions imaginable, and some are paid just pennies above minimum wage. All they're asking for is a decent wage they can actually live on. unitetheunion.org/news-event…

The future of adult social care is critically important and we can't keep kicking the can down the road. The cost is impossible for local authorities to bear, workers are underpaid and overworked, residents face subpar care, while care companies make a fortune at the taxpayers' expense. That's why Unite's retired members have launched our Stand Up For Social Care campaign, calling for fair funding. Thousands of local authorities workers across the country are being balloted for strike action after rejecting another real-terms pay cut ✂️ After years of below-inflation pay rises, pay freezes, and employers refusing to negotiate, council workers have had enough. These are the people who keep our communities running. Workers across councils in England and Wales are now voting on industrial action, with ballots open until 17 August. Remember to put in your ballot and share with you colleagues. It's time for fair pay for the workers who keep our communities running. ✊ #FairPay #LocalGovernment #CouncilWorkers #PayRise #StrikeBallot
